Deloitte Tax LLP seeks a Tax Senior in McLean, Virginia.
Work You’ll Do
Assist clients with fundamental tax planning and analysis. Work to understand company-specific business and tax issues and work with the company to optimize its tax position to identify and mitigate risk areas. Assist clients in streamlining their tax compliance processes, especially in the area of partnership-specific tax calculations and Schedule K-1 preparation. Assist clients in various industries with: Life Events for Partnerships (formations, terminations, mergers), Inside and Outside Basis computations, Section 704(c) and 743(b) computations, Schedule K-1 processing, and development of custom technology solutions to streamline the compliance process. Develop client service relationships and facilitate specialized Deloitte tax services to improve compliance with taxing entities while maintaining each client’s overall tax risk profile. Apply federal tax compliance principles and work closely with clients as well as the Deloitte tax team to further clients' global goals and strategies and align them with industry and economic trends. Mentor and coach junior team members.
Requirements
Requires Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field (willing to accept foreign education equivalent) plus eighteen months of experience as a Tax Senior or related occupation gaining experience designing and implementing tax technology solutions to enhance compliance and operational efficiency.
Experience must include eighteen months of:
• analyzing internal systems, including iPACS.SubK, to identify performance gaps and implement improvements through database normalization and process optimization;
• developing and maintaining Alteryx workflows, including real-time processing for large asset portfolios to calculate asset basis, fair market value (FMV), depreciation, and capital gains/losses;
• building Excel-based tools and VBA automation scripts to streamline reporting and reconciliation and to reduce manual processes;
• performing business analysis using Agile and Waterfall development methodologies to ensure coordination across teams and projects;
• collaborating with tax and IT stakeholders to gather and document business requirements aligned with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance standards;
• drafting functional specifications, system change requests, and process flow documentation to support development initiatives;
• spearheading system testing and user acceptance testing (UAT), creating test plans, and coordinating defect resolution with domestic and offshore teams;
• preparing quarterly estimated tax payments and partnership allocations in support of federal tax compliance;
• analyzing general ledger data for tax reporting accuracy and performing analytics in accordance with evolving tax laws; and
• mentoring and coaching junior team members.
Position requires approximately 20% domestic travel.
