Work You’ll Do
Assist clients to balance compliance details and long-term tax strategies as well as understand national, state and local, and international tax structures and align tax functions with business objectives. Provide day-to-day client service relationships and serve as the gateway to a variety of specialized tax services that can help improve compliance with taxing entities while maintaining each client’s overall tax risk profile. Work closely with clients and other members of the team to understand each organization’s global goals and strategies and how industry and economic trends affect the business. Provide compliance and consulting services to corporate and individual clients. Identify complex tax issues and provide tax analysis for a variety of entities and their affiliates. Primary responsibilities include participating in complex tax research projects for clients in diverse industries and researching and analyzing a wide range of tax issues related to business transactions and the tax implications of financing techniques for a variety of entities and their affiliates. Assume tax-planning responsibilities for federal and individual clients. Mentor and coach junior team members and escalate issues when necessary. Review federal and state tax returns for corporations and partnerships, including Forms 5472, 926, 1065, and 1120, and K-1s.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s (or higher) degree in accounting, finance, business administration, taxation, or related field (willing to accept foreign degree equivalent).
- Eighteen months of experience as a Tax Senior or related occupation gaining experience providing tax planning services or preparing and reviewing client work papers and tax returns.
- Experience must include eighteen months of:
- Preparing federal and state/local income tax returns for corporations and partnerships, including Form 5471, Form 5472, Form 926, Form 1065, Form 1120, Form 1120-F, Form 8858, Form 8865, and K-1s;
- Analyzing partnership agreements with respect to real estate funds and operating companies to calculate partnership allocations;
- Preparing or reviewing PFIC (Passive Foreign Investment Corporation) statements;
- Utilizing tax research tools, including BNA, CCH, and RIA Checkpoint, to provide tax compliance and consulting services to various clients and researching tax law and updates and respond to federal and state tax notices;
- Drafting or preparing confirmations, engagement letters, planning letters, trial balances, and setting up files for client engagements; and
- Preparing federal and state quarterly estimated tax payments for corporations and preparing schedules for federal and state income tax returns and state franchise tax.
- Salary: $77,700.00 - $144,300.00/year.
