Position Summary

Deloitte Tax LLP seeks a Tax Senior in Chicago, Illinois

Work You’ll Do

Perform initial data entry and similar tasks to prepare tax calculation workpapers for further analysis. Assume tax-planning responsibilities for our federal clients and assist with the supervision of assignments. Provide tax research and analysis for clients in diverse industries, and keep up-to-date on current tax practices and technical issues Under the supervision of Tax Managers, Tax Senior Managers, Tax Partners, Principals, and Managing Directors, oversee tax consulting projects for clients in diverse industries. Develop a working knowledge of the client's business and tax systems, take responsibility for clearing open items relating to assigned areas, meeting client deadlines, and contribute to the successful completion of projects. Manage operational success of projects including technical review, providing feedback, mentorship and coaching to junior team members. Be responsible for applying the intricacies of tax codes and regulations. Will commute within the Chicago, IL area to consult with clients concerning the above job duties.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Accounting, Finance, Data Analytics or related field (willing to accept foreign equivalent).
  • Eighteen months of experience as Tax Senior or related occupation performing tax planning, reporting and compliance for U.S. multinational corporations.
  • Experience must include eighteen (18) months of:
    • assisting with the analysis and documentation of fees paid to third-party advisors for purposes of capitalization and expensing in compliance with Treasury Regulation 1.263(a)-5;
    • assisting clients with consolidated tax group rules in compliance with the Internal Revenue Code (“IRC”) Section 1502 and related Treasury Regulations, focusing on tax stock basis and earnings and profits (“E&P”);
    • analyzing clients’ corporate histories to compute tax stock basis in subsidiaries, including taxable acquisitions, non-taxable reorganizations pursuant to IRC Section 368, and tax-free spin-offs pursuant to IRC Section 355;
    • computing investment adjustments and E&P pursuant to Treasury Regulation Sections 1.1502-32 and 1.1502-33 and IRC Section 312;
    • assisting clients with losses on sales of subsidiaries, including the Unified Loss Rule in compliance with Treasury Regulation 1.1502-36, including the computation of net aside basis of assets;
    • identifying and assisting clients with worthless stock deduction transactions pursuant to IRC Section 165(g) and the related Treasury Regulations;
    • utilizing CCH, BNA, Lexis Nexis and RIA Checkpoint to research various U.S. federal income tax issues; and
    • mentoring and coaching junior team members.
  • Less than 10% domestic travel outside of normal commuting distance.
  • Salary: $71,610.00 - $132,990.00/year
