What you’ll do
As a Tax Senior on the Indirect Tax Digital Enablement team, you will provide innovative technology solutions to complex indirect tax issues across a diverse client base. You will continue to grow your technical knowledge around indirect taxes and emerging technologies by working on large, complex tax projects. You will have access to exceptional resources and continue to develop your supervisory skills. Responsibilities include:
- Identifying opportunities to improve operational efficiencies and streamline workflows through application of emerging technologies and implementing those ideas.
- Contributing to innovation efforts within Deloitte’s Indirect Tax practice.
- Supporting development efforts for new indirect tax technology applications or offerings
- Assisting leaders with business development activities related to indirect tax technology offerings.
- Providing support on client projects related to indirect tax technology offerings.
The Team
Deloitte’s Indirect Tax group is the largest State and Local Tax (SALT) practice in the United States with more than 1,000 professionals nationwide. Our Indirect Tax professionals include former state tax auditors and administrators, industry personnel, tax practitioners, accounting specialists, and technology personnel with numerous years of indirect tax experience. Collectively, our team has significant experience with the requirements and nuances of jurisdictions in all 50 states. Our specific services include state income and franchise tax, indirect tax, business restructuring, credits and incentives, sales and use tax outsourcing, excise tax, property tax, state strategic tax review, value added tax, global trade advisory and state tax controversy.
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, management information systems, data analytics, computer science, or related fields
- Ability to perform job responsibilities within a hybrid work model that requires US Tax professionals to co-locate in person 2-3 days per week
- 3+ years of experience in an accounting firm or corporate tax environment
- Demonstrated experience with data extract/transform/load (ETL) tools (e.g. Alteryx, IDEA, python, etc.)
- One of the following accreditations obtained, in process, or willing able to obtain:
- Licensed CPA in state of practice/primary office if eligible to sit for the CPA exam
- If not CPA eligible:
- Licensed attorney
- Enrolled Agent
- Technology Certifications:
- Relevant industry certification such as Project Management (PMP)
- Six Sigma (Black Belt)
- Ability to travel 50%, on average, based on the work you do and the clients and industries/sectors you serve
Preferred:
- Advanced degree such as Masters of Tax or JD and/or LLM
- Previous Big 4 or large CPA firm experience
- Indirect tax experience
- Organizational skills with ability to multitask/manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Creative and problem-solving skills
- Familiarity with data visualization and analytics tools (e.g. Power BI, Tableau, QlikView, etc.)
The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. At Deloitte, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $66,570 to $ $151,580.
You may also be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program, subject to the rules governing the program, whereby an award, if any, depends on various factors, including, without limitation, individual and organizational performance.
