Position Summary
The Manager will bring an agile, innovative, and entrepreneurial mindset that will enable them to collaborate with a team of finance professionals focused on delivering day-to-day accounting and controllership activities for their respective business. The Manager will ensure that timely, accurate, and insightful financial information is provided to the appropriate business stakeholders. To accomplish this, the Manager may also collaborate with Deloitte’s Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) team, our Engagement Financial Advisor (EFA) organization, Global Finance Services (GFS), and other teams within the Accounting & Compliance function.
About the Team
Deloitte’s Controllership function, within its Finance & Administration organization, provides stewardship over the US firms’ assets by monitoring business transactions and enforcing accounting policy that results in accurate and reliable financial statements. Controllership is a dynamic, highly collaborative group focused on overseeing and supporting the financial health of the U.S. member firm and each of its functional subsidiaries.
What You’ll Do:
- Demonstrate responsiveness by proactively assisting the team with critical deliverables for the Lead Controller or US Firms’ Controller.
- Conduct technical accounting reviews of complex transactions, perform targeted research of US GAAP, and document conclusions in clear, authoritative accounting memos.
- Evaluate new or unusual business arrangements – e.g., alliance arrangements, and provide guidance that ensures the appropriate accounting and application of US GAAP.
- Collaborate with business and finance teams to discuss accounting requirements, advise on implications, and proactively address emerging technical issues.
- Evaluate complex revenue arrangements and document the accounting conclusions. Coordinate and manage consultations with subject matter experts, as needed.
- Lead and manage accounting-driven process transformation projects that improve efficiency, strengthen controls, and enhance the quality of financial information.
- Translate accounting requirements into functional and technical design specifications to support system enhancements, automation solutions, and end-to-end process improvements.
- Collaborate effectively with teams across Finance & Administration to implement scalable solutions that resolve accounting pain points and elevate operational effectiveness.
- Champion continuous improvement by assessing current-state processes, defining future-state designs, and guiding teams through change management and execution.
- Support timely and accurate period-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities, ensuring results comply with US GAAP and internal policies.
- Analyze, interpret, and understand financial data to ensure reported amounts are accurate and aligned with expectations.
- Monitor financial close deliverables, proactively resolve issues, and ensure alignment with the Controller’s priorities and expectations.
- Review and approve journal entries for JVs and M&A related transactions as policy guidelines.

Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience, or 5 years of accounting/auditing professional services firm experience
- Advanced understanding of ASC 805, Business Combinations and other key accounting pronouncements, such as, but not limited to ASC 606, Revenue From Contracts with Customers, ASC 810, Consolidation, and ASC 350, Intangibles - Goodwill and Other.
- Understanding of US GAAP and methodologies for technical research.
- Limited immigration sponsorship may be available
- Ability to travel 0-10%, on average, based on the work you do and the clients and industries/sectors you serve
Preferred Requirements
- CPA and/or MBA preferred.
- Possess data analysis skillsets and experience with using technology.
- Understanding and proficiency of SAP and other financial applications
- Advanced use of MS Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams)
- Proficiency in Tableau or PowerBI
- Artificial intelligence software
