Position Summary

Work you’ll do

The Consultant in this role will serve as a subject matter expert (SME) on Fonn Group’s Saga (newsroom computer system – NRCS) and Mimir (media asset manager – MAM) platforms, leading newsroom transformation efforts through structured training, workflow optimization, and change management. This individual will bridge newsroom operations and technology, helping successful adoption of the Fonn Group tools and sustained operational improvement.

Responsibilities required of a Consultant in this role include:

  • Serving as a functional SME on Fonn Group Saga (NRCS) and Mimir (MAM), with deep understanding of system architecture, integrations, user roles, permissions, metadata structures, asset lifecycle management, and rundown workflows
  • Delivering structured, role-based training programs across all newsroom functions (anchors, reporters, meteorologists, sports, multi-media journalists, producers, directors, assignment desk, digital teams, editors, photographers, and management), covering both foundational system capabilities and workflow-specific use cases
  • Teaching end users how Saga and Mimir support the full newsroom lifecycle, including story creation, planning, scripting, rundown building, asset ingest, tagging, search, retrieval, editing, playout integration, and archive management
  • Conducting hands-on rehearsals and live workflow simulations within Saga and Mimir environments to ensure newsroom teams can execute real-world scenarios prior to go-live
  • Providing detailed, real-time guidance and troubleshooting on system functionality, best practices, and workflow optimization across editorial, production, digital, and archive teams
  • Assessing user proficiency and readiness through structured validation exercises, scenario-based testing, and feedback loops prior to full transition to Saga and Mimir as primary systems
  • Partnering with newsroom leadership and corporate stakeholders to evaluate current-state workflows and design optimized future-state workflows enabled by Saga and Mimir capabilities
  • Identifying gaps in adoption, system utilization, metadata consistency, and workflow alignment, and recommending configuration or training enhancements to improve operational efficiency
  • Supporting change management activities including stakeholder alignment, communication planning, resistance mitigation, and reinforcement strategies to drive sustained adoption
  • Capturing user feedback and operational observations during deployments to continuously refine Saga and Mimir training materials, job aids, playbooks, and best practice documentation
  • Contributing to the development of a scalable deployment model, enabling concurrent station rollouts with standardized training frameworks, certification checkpoints, and repeatable onboarding methodologies
  • Collaborating with corporate technology, IT, engineering, and Fonn Group vendor teams to escalate issues, validate configurations, and ensure alignment between system capabilities and newsroom operational requirements
  • Supporting project management activities across system transition timelines, including training schedules, rehearsal coordination, go-live support, and post-launch stabilization
  • Leading small teams of junior trainers or analysts during multi-station deployments, ensuring consistent delivery quality, knowledge transfer, and documentation rigor
