Work You’ll Do
Assist clients to balance compliance details and long-term tax strategies as well as understand national, state and local, and international tax law and align tax functions with business objectives. Maintain day-to-day client service relationships and serve as the gateway to a variety of specialized tax services that can help improve compliance with taxing entities while considering each client’s overall tax risk profile. Work closely with clients and other members of the team to understand each organization’s global goals and strategies and how industry and economic trends affect the business. Provide compliance and consulting services to corporate and partnership clients. Identify complex tax issues and provide tax analysis for a variety of entities and their affiliates. Primary responsibilities include participating in complex tax research projects for clients in diverse industries and researching and analyzing a wide range of tax issues related to business transactions and the tax implications of financing techniques for a variety of entities and their affiliates. Undertake tax compliance assignments for current and former executives of client corporations and partners of client organizations. Assume tax-planning responsibilities for federal and partnership clients. Mentor and coach junior team members and escalate issues when necessary. Will commute within the Los Angeles, CA area to consult with clients concerning the above job duties.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s (or higher) degree in accounting, business administration, or related field (willing to accept foreign education equivalent).
- Eighteen months of experience as a Tax Senior or related occupation gaining experience providing tax planning services or preparing and reviewing client work papers and tax returns.
- Experience must include eighteen months of:
- Preparing federal and state/local income tax returns for corporations and partnerships, including Form 5471, Form 5472, Form 926, Form 1065, Form 1120, Form 1120-F, and Form 8858/8865;
- Performing detailed technical reviews of partnership and corporate federal tax returns, and reviewing related work papers;
- Utilizing tax research tools, including BNA, CCH, and RIA Checkpoint, to provide tax compliance and consulting services to various clients and researching tax law and updates and respond to federal and state tax notices;
- Assisting corporations with Internal Revenue Service and state tax examinations, responding to Information Document Requests (IDRs), and drafting response memos;
- Drafting or preparing confirmations, engagement letters, planning letters, trial balances, and setting up files for client engagements;
- Preparing federal and state quarterly estimated tax payments for corporations and preparing schedules for federal and state income tax returns and state franchise tax;
- Interacting with clients on tax consulting projects, including tax methods planning, credits and incentives, and state nexus studies;
- Performing income tax provision (ASC 740) audits and reviews, preparing and reviewing audit documentation, and performing substantive testing for audit and attest clients; and
- Mentoring and coaching junior team members, including onshore and offshore.
- Less than 10% domestic travel outside normal commuting distance.
- Salary: $77,700.00 - $144,300.00/year.
