Position Summary

Deloitte Tax LLP seeks a Tax Senior in Chicago, Illinois.

Work You’ll Do

Assist clients to manage state tax liability and such challenges as states with unique tax laws, the enforcement focus of state departments of revenue, the growing number of audits, and increased merger and acquisition activity. Provide services relating to business restructuring, credits and incentives, sales and use tax, sales and use tax outsourcing, state income and franchise tax, state strategic tax review, and state tax controversy. Provide compliance and consulting services to corporate and individual clients. Identify complex tax issues and provide tax analysis for a variety of entities and their affiliates. Assist with overseeing complex tax research projects for clients in diverse industries as well as research and analyze a wide range of tax issues, such as deferred tax liability issues and tax implications of financing techniques, for a variety of entities and their affiliates. Offer unique insight into the many factors affecting taxation, from the tax policies that drive federal tax legislation, to understanding the technical nuances that may create compliance exposure. Assume tax planning responsibilities for corporate and individual clients.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's (or higher) degree in Accounting, Finance, Taxation, Business Administration, Law or related field (willing to accept foreign education equivalent).
  • Eighteen (18) months of experience as a Tax Senior or related occupation gaining experience preparing and reviewing client documents or filing with requisite government agencies.
  • Experience must include one (1) year of:
    • Applying federal, state, and local tax rules to corporate and individual clients;
    • Preparing and reviewing tax returns, estimates, extensions, and provisions for corporations and partnerships in multistate jurisdictions;
    • Performing tax research utilizing tax software and tools, including Corptax, GoSystem, RIA CheckPoint, BNA, and CCH;
    • Preparing and filing withholding and composite returns for partnerships and limited liability companies in multi-state jurisdiction;
    • Preparing state income and franchise tax returns for corporations and partnerships based on varying state regulations for the apportionment of income and nexus creating activities;
    • Analyzing conflict state issues, including master limited partnerships, state audit provisions, multi-state corporate conversions, and tax restructuring issues;
    • Performing state taxation services, including state apportionments, modifications, and state and local credits calculations, based on varying state regulations;
    • Assisting with mediating between clients and state revenue departments to resolve state tax notices, audits, and other tax-related issues and inquiries;
    • Preparing and filing K-1s, withholding, and composite returns for partnerships and limited liability companies, including private equity and real estate funds; and
    • Utilizing data visualization tools, including Alteryx, to build data wrangling models and workflows for complex multistate tax databases.
  • Salary: $68,180.00 - $126,620.00/year
