Position Summary

VP Engineer – Customer Data Management

In today’s world, customers expect companies to know who they are and what they want. Customers want to have products, services or experiences that best suit their needs delivered to them with relationship continuity across physical and digital channels.

Customers are human first: driven by rapidly evolving needs and desires. The requirement for brands to make personal, meaningful connections on a human level has never been a more important part of brand success. Hux by Deloitte Digital delivers on those experiences in a way that allows companies to own the customer journey end to end, and deliver low-friction relationship continuity via any touch-point, with transformational efficiency.

Hux is the Human Experience Platform by Deloitte Digital. We help companies flexibly connect to any data sources that contain the signals that express what matters most to consumers, leverage advanced AI and machine learning technology to sense and respond to those needs at scale, connect systems to unlock insights, promote collaboration to drive acquisition, engagement and loyalty. Most importantly, we empower companies to connect with customers in personal, meaningful ways that respect them as individuals, not just customers at large.

Hux by Deloitte Digital gives companies the ability to build and leverage the connections – between people, systems, data and technologies – so they can deliver personalized, relevant multi-media experiences to customers at scale.

Work you’ll do:

As the Vice President for the Hux Customer Data Platform team, you will lead the software engineering team that are productizing this platform as an industry leading and transformational capability. You’ll combine cutting-edge open-source libraries, best-in-class commercial components and high quality engineering, to automate the management of cross-channel communications with consumers for large clients. This includes integrating multiple terabytes of data across business units in a low latency and auto-scaled environment.

Development of robust integrated solutions for the Hux Platform Organization:

  • Evaluation of vendor and alliance partner technologies, including the native technologies of the major cloud vendors.
  • Oversight of common client solution architectures and their evolution.
  • Ensuring solutions are robust, easily maintained and governed to meet strict client SLAs.
  • Ensuring solutions are compatible with privacy requirements (GDPR, CCPA)
  • Ensuring solutions meet the enterprise security requirements of clients
  • Ensuring solutions have good observability and monitoring.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Oversee the development, roadmap, and deployment of the Hux CDP solution
  • Define data and analytics strategy practices, lead the creation (and assure the ongoing relevance) of the Hux CDP data and analytics strategy. Institute an operating model that is consistent with the capabilities and competencies required to execute the strategy.
  • Work with a matrixed set of Deloitte leadership executives to establish the vision for managing data as a business asset — to exploit data using research and analytics to maximize the return on data assets and determine, based on that, what capabilities to prioritize developing.
  • Lead cross-functional initiatives working with multiple, distributed teams
  • Design, build and support scalable data pipelines, systems and APIs for AdTech and MarTech products
  • Deliver operational automation and tooling to minimize repeated manual tasks
  • Influence product and cross-functional teams to identify opportunities to drive impact

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or master’s degree in Computer Science or related technical field
  • Demonstrated leadership; proven track record of leading complex, multidisciplinary talent teams in new endeavors and delivering solutions – likely in excess of 15 years of experience in the field.
  • Proven record of effective leadership, including the ability to balance team and individual responsibilities, build teams and consensus, get things done through others not directly under his/her supervision, and work ethically and with integrity.
  • Proven data literacy — The ability to describe business use cases/outcomes, data sources and management concepts, and analytical approaches/options. The ability to translate among the languages used by executive, business, IT and quant stakeholders.
  • Ability to effectively drive business, culture and technology change in a dynamic and complex operating environment.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to explain digital concepts and technologies to business leaders, and business concepts to technologists
  • Skilled at designing and building highly scalable data pipelines
  • Proven track record of working with cloud technologies (AWS, GCP, Azure, etc.)
  • Self-driven with a passion for learning and implementing new technologies
  • A history of working collaboratively with a cross-functional team of engineers, data scientists and product managers
  • Experience with supporting human and automated machine-driven analytic processes with large consumer data sets
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future
  • Ability to travel up to 30%, on average, based on the work you do and the clients and industries/sectors you serve

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with modern data warehouses (Snowflake, etc.)
  • Experience with modern SDLC practices, leveraging CI/CD and containerization
  • Experience backend infrastructure and pipelines
  • Knowledge of distributed systems
  • Experience working in a product engineering environment
