The DI group executes a research and analysis mandate to transform information surfaced through investigation about markets, sectors, and clients into actionable and decision-relevant insights for internal and external audiences. One of the group’s key mission is to undertake research and analysis to develop compelling and forward-looking perspectives that allow clients to anticipate, prepare for, and respond to “what’s coming next.”

Work you will do

The individual should be creative and forward-thinking, answering the burning research questions by diving into data to test hypotheses and evolving trends. The candidate should have strong statistical and analytical background as she/he will be positioned as a subject matter specialist for data analytics. The individual will drive research projects exploring data analytics and visualization using diverse statistical tools/techniques. The Data Scientist should have experience evaluating relationships between multiple variables and using patterns in past data to shape predictive insights. Findings will need to be distilled into broadly digestible formats via compelling visualizations and well written reports. The candidate will contribute to the development of externally-facing thought ware, across ideation of research topics to analyses and creation of the final reports targeted to senior executives.

The candidate would be primarily working with industry centers and other internal stakeholders on data science projects. He/she needs to understand the business objectives and collect the relevant data using SQL/R/Python. The candidate needs to collaborate with US data science colleagues and other stakeholders on daily basis for timely deliverables and should have strong communication skills and good stakeholder management skills.

·       Strong foundation in modeling, statistics, analytics, mathematics and Computer Sciences. Ability to understand data structures using computer programs/algorithms, explain complex data architectures to prepare data for analysis, and make sense out of data

·       Strong business acumen to understand context of the research situation and identify data analytics opportunities to differentiate analysis.  Guide analytics process by framing hypotheses and stating research problem to accurately reflect the research situation

·       Perform statistical analysis of large data sets to better understand trends and relationships between variables to inform predictive insights

·       Demonstrate ability to creatively employ new research tools to analyze data and derive unique findings for publications the Eminence team develops

·       Communicate research findings using compelling visualizations and well written reports. Design and build data visualizations using diverse sets of structured and unstructured data. Write engaging synopsis to inform methodology, assumptions, and conclusions of the analysis

·       Lead development of research reports that are created using credible qualitative and quantitative methodologies and based on key insights and findings from the studies.  Liaise with the U.S. colleagues to understand, refine, and manage clients’ expectations and priorities

·       Review outputs of junior colleagues and guide cross-team analysts to deploy statistical tools and techniques in their research projects. Conduct trainings for broader teams on statistical analysis

·       Propose creative analytics ideas and encourage fellow team members to explore advanced analytic techniques, such as predictive analytics, data mining, text mining, and/or sentiment analysis.  To pursue new ideas – design research proposal, build consensus, and formulate research plan.

·       Identify internal and external information sources, build effective working relationships with subject matter experts within the firm and the external marketplace

Skillsets and qualifications:

·  Strong Python programming skills

·  Ability to explore, identify and use appropriate Python libraries (e.g. pandas, Matplotlib, Scikit-learn, regex, NLTK, SciPy, Plotly etc.)

·  Strong Familiarity with SQL and other database tools to store, organize, retrieve, and manage data

·  Knowledge in handling unstructured data (esp. web scraping, parsing, regular expressions)

·  Conceptual understanding of Machine Learning/ Deep Learning/Natural Language Processing concepts is good to have

·  Ability to build Supervised & Unsupervised machine learning models is an added advantage.

·  Good interactive data visualization skills (Tableau/Plotly/Seaborn etc.)

·  Advanced Microsoft Office skills

·  Strong verbal and written communication skills.  Demonstrate strong consultative and engaging presentation skills

·  Ability to work well in remote team situations

·  Self-motivated and strong team player.  Highly developed personal and professional ethics

Educational Requirements:

·       Bachelors/Masters in Statistics/Mathematics/Computer Science from reputed school in India or abroad

·       3-4 years of experience in deploying computer software and machine learning tools, at the enterprise level, for data collection, preparation, analysis, and visualization
