Hybrid Business Design UI Lead

Built on the backs of our digital banking practice and decades supporting clients of all scale making the hard decisions of who to partner with, where to start, and how improve time to value. You can’t solve today’s challenges by focusing on single layer (experience, cloud, core) nor on a single vendor partner – so we’ve built an ecosystem solution that has the hard parts of integration, data standards, and core configuration already developed to enable banking solutions. We do this by plugging in fintech partners and existing capabilities (e.g., cards, BSA-AML.) from a single framework that allows our clients to launch new propositions at speed.

Work you'll do

The UI Lead is responsible working in partnership with the broader product team (including business owners, product management, business architecture, engineering, and designers) to solve complex user experience problems and articulate clear design requirements in a human-centered framework. The UI Lead directs the work of team members as well as contributes to user experience and design expertise directly to product projects. 

UI Lead Responsibilities

  • Act as the lead UI designer for Banking-as-a-Service offering
  • Bring user-centered design (UCD) process methods to digital solutions from concept to launch
  • Research marketplace to understand business requirements in the broader context of Banking-as-a-Service’s offering strategy and advocate for the user by developing intuitive interactions and easy-to-use interfaces
  • Identify and execute on the best methods for user research and testing within client constraints
  • Design and deliver information architecture, wireframes, user personas and journeys, and prototypes optimized for a wide range of devices and interfaces 
  • Ensure all design documentation is created holistically with the client vision and cross-functional needs 
  • Forecast project opportunities and architect approaches to deliver the work
  • Provide practiced, constructive art direction to junior designers
  • Integrate with other senior cross-functional teammates (Go-to-Market, Product, Engineering) in pursuit of producing best-in-industry creative work
  • Present the creative work and expertly articulate the team’s design process
  • Create and facilitate creative workshops with potential customers, as needed
  • A clear passion and enthusiasm for learning and pursuing your expertise, constantly challenging and vocalizing the definition of what makes good user experience

Qualifications

Industry experience includes —

  • 5+ years of related design experience; Working deep in the trenches with cross-functional teams on diverse agency or product design
  • 2+ years of mentoring and guiding junior UI designers 

Your online portfolio – 

  • Showcases your experience, storytelling and design presentation skills
  • Demonstrates solid design judgement and an ability to solve nebulous UI problems
  • Showcases your projects with a breadth of diverse projects and business challenges
  • Focuses on your guiding experience design principles 
  • Shows ability to work in step with multi-disciplinary team leaders 

Experience with –

  • Planning for and delivering experience design projects 
  • Reviewing existing systems and processes to identify UI issues and develop UI recommendations
  • UI research, including planning, designing and facilitating user sessions and client workshops, analyzing findings and articulating results
  • Information architecture, user and screen flows, conceptual and detailed wireframing and prototyping
  • Working in a wide variety of modern design tools like Sketch, Axure, Principle, Framer, Figma, and InVision

Ability to –

  • Approach design challenges with and open mind and ability to navigate difficult working relationships
  • Organize and self-direct to get things done, delegating to junior designers to execute 
  • Communicate your ideas in an efficient, persuasive manner
  • Work independently and in groups as needed
  • Experiment with emerging technology / design trends, tools and methods
  • A consistent passion for learning and pursuing your craft and guiding others how to fulfill their own potential
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Skills

  • Experience working in the agile methodology 
  • Passion for Financial Services
  • Qualitative and quantitative research methodologies
  • Experience with conversational UI
  • Motion design and animation
  • Participation in the wider design community and connections with creative organizations such as UXPA, Creative Mornings, etc.
