Work You’ll Do
Oversee, lead and conduct tax technology implementation, tax data management and data wrangling projects. Oversee tax-technology implementation project lifecycles and decisions involving requirements gathering, design sessions, configuration of tax technology systems and client user acceptance testing. Assist clients with data and process automation required for tax provision at quarter-end and year-end filings. Assist clients with tax technology implementations for income tax filings. Design and automate tax workpapers for U.S. federal tax compliance, state apportionment, and international reporting and provide guidance to address issues related to tax data management and tax technology automation. Manage, design, gather client requirements and build data-wrangling solutions, and custom reporting and analytical models to store and manage client tax-related information. Develop a working knowledge of the client's business and tax systems, take responsibility for meeting project deadlines, and contribute to the successful completion of projects. Work with clients to gather their current and future tax and technology process requirements, identify areas to achieve automation, perform system fit-gap analysis and implement cost-savings measures related to data gathering from their domestic and international subsidiaries. Manage client training and support on the use of tax technology systems and processes. Inform clients of tax technology developments that affect their businesses and help them to interpret and integrate tax technology considerations into their business strategies. Work on multiple engagements managing Tax Managers, Tax Seniors and Tax Consultants, review work and provide actionable feedback, and mentor and review the work of teams both on-site and overseas. Oversee various client project management activities, develop status reports for Deloitte’s upper management, and assist with the supervision and staffing decisions of consultants and senior consultants, and escalate issues when necessary. Actively engage in decision making, client relationship management activities and take ownership of client billing tasks. Develop and maintain client contacts, develop go-to market strategies, and contribute to business development initiatives. Work with a team of tax professionals to implement new tax software products and optimize the services provided via existing products. Work with Senior Managers, Managers, and Senior Consultants to design client deliverables, convert client requirements into actual design and deliver these solutions to clients. Conduct user acceptance testing to compile comprehensive test scenarios, identify flaws, and improvements to newly built systems and processes
Requirements
- Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Management Information Systems, Computer Information Systems, Business Administration, or related field (willing to accept foreign education equivalent).
- Four years of experience implementing and integrating tax and technology solutions using data wrangling tools, technology automation, analytics, databases and programming languages and macros.
- In the alternative, the employer is willing to accept a Bachelor's degree and six years of experience as stated above.
- Experience must include four years of:
- Reviewing tax-technology implementation lifecycles for various clients, including requirements analysis, design sessions, configuration of tax-technology systems and go-live testing, and developing solutions for client implementation of tax-technology tools, including ONESOURCE Workflow Manager (OWM) suite, that integrate with tax provision and tax return systems;
- Implementing the full stack of ONESOURCE Workflow Manager (OWM) suite for corporate tax and IT departments to manage tax deadlines, achieve cloud-based document storage and reporting using ONESOURCE FileRoom, achieve tax package enhancements using ONESOURCE DataFlow, implement tax due date management, and monitor status of tax department due-date obligations using ONESOURCE Calendar;
- Implementing and assisting with tax-technology and data wrangling projects utilizing Alteryx Designer and Alteryx Server, and implementing and assisting with tax data management and analytical reporting using Microsoft PowerBI, Microsoft SQL, Azure SQL, Pyramid, Python and RPA tools, including UIPath;
- Working with clients to gather their current and future tax and technology process requirements, identify areas to achieve automation, perform system fit-gap analysis and implement cost savings measures related to data gathering from their domestic and international subsidiaries;
- Automating and streamlining various tax processes using advanced Microsoft Excel functionalities and VBA programming, including writing VBA macros and SQL scripts and connections to relational databases;
- Designing and automating tax workpapers for U.S. Federal Compliance, Non-U.S. Provision and Compliance, State Apportionment and International 5471/8865 reporting using ONESOURCE DataFlow, ONESOURCE Workflow Manager and VBA programming, and integrating existing tax workpapers and communicating with downstream and upstream financial systems, including HFM, Oracle, SAP and PeopleSoft, and tax provision and tax return systems, including ONESOURCE and Corptax;
- Conducting user acceptance testing to compile comprehensive test scenarios and identify flaws and improvements to newly built systems and processes;
- Assisting with client training, providing client support on the use of tax technology systems and processes, developing and maintaining client relationships, developing go-to market strategies, and contributing to business development initiatives;
- Interacting directly with senior management of the engagement team and clients to discuss issue resolution and continuity, and assisting with the full life cycle of client engagements, including staffing, budgeting, and closing out projects; and
- Mentoring, coaching, and reviewing the work of teams both on site and overseas, and developing and motivating engagement staff and providing them with leadership, counselling and career guidance.
- Position requires approximately 65% domestic travel.
