Deloitte Tax LLP seeks a Tax Senior in McLean, VA.

Work You’ll Do

Work with clients to streamline their programs while reviewing tax effectiveness, risks, and costs. Assist clients with developing the strategies, processes, and technologies that affect their staff and operations on a worldwide scale and discussing with client. Responsible for reviewing internal resources and working directly with clients to provide expatriate and foreign national tax compliance and consulting services to multi-national clients. Review individual income tax returns, conduct US tax law research, review tax consulting projects, and assist in the administration of company tax programs. Utilize knowledge in expatriate and foreign national tax compliance, tax equalization policy implementation/consulting, and monitoring of international assignee populations of multi-national clients and make appropriate recommendations. Utilize experience with the individual income tax issues and tax law including foreign national and expatriate issues, foreign tax compliance and the tax equalization process. Responsible for consulting regarding international income tax issues, and reporting and disclosure rules.



  • Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Accounting, Finance, Taxation, or related field (willing to accept foreign education equivalent).
  • Eighteen months of experience performing expatriate and foreign national tax compliance and equalization policy implementation.
  • Experience must include eighteen months of:
    • Advising on individual income tax issues pertaining to expatriates and foreign nationals, tax compliance in jurisdictions outside of the US, and the tax equalization process, and applying taxation concepts to social security implications associated with international assignments;
    • Determining foreign countries' tax reporting requirements in relation to US tax law reporting events and applying revenue code sections and income tax treaties to host country tax laws for the expatriate and the inpatriate population;
    • Advising on home and host country tax implications, and conducting pre-departure orientation and repatriation meetings with clients from a US tax perspective;
    • Utilizing tax research tools, including BNA and CCH, to provide tax compliance and consulting services to global business travelers;
    • Utilizing tax software, including CCH Axcess, to compute taxes, conduct research and integrate with internal tracking tools;
    • Analyzing HR and payroll information in SAP to determine US residency and compensation taxability, and verifying and executing payroll in SAP;
    • Utilizing Excel macros and Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) programming to automate engagement processes;
    • Reviewing tax reimbursements for employees and retirees, including identifying tax issues for permanent residence holders, US citizens, and G-4 visa holders of International Organizations; and
    • Mentoring junior staff and interns and collaborating with both on and offshore teams on the compliance process workflow.
