Position Summary

Deloitte Tax LLP seeks a Tax Senior in Omaha, NE.

Work You’ll Do

Review federal, state and international tax filings for individuals and businesses, including corporations, S-corporations, and partnerships, and assist Consultants on software utilization in the preparation of tax returns. Apply tax and accounting methods to specific businesses and industries and identify solutions to mitigate tax risk areas. Review testing of ASC 740 accrual audit workpapers prepared by junior team members. Identify risk areas and understand audit report tax disclosure requirements for SEC and AICPA as they apply to each client’s business. Coordinate with the audit team on project planning and information gathering to support SEC and AICPA provision audits. Review tax research and summary analyses for clients in diverse industries and apply tax research findings to clients’ businesses. Work with leadership on final drafts of technical summary memoranda. Review correspondence with taxing authorities in response to notices or information requests and ensure responses are delivery ready. Provide mentorship to junior team members and provide feedback on their performance to management and firm leadership to assist in the evaluation of talent for promotion readiness. Lead and organize office committees and initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's (or higher) degree in Accounting, Finance, Taxation, Law, or related field (willing to accept foreign education equivalent).
  • Eighteen months as Tax Senior or related occupation gaining experience providing tax planning services or preparing and reviewing client work papers and tax returns.
  • Experience must include eighteen months of:
    • Preparing federal and state income tax returns and international information returns for C-Corporations, S-Corporations, Partnerships, and high net worth individuals;
    • Utilizing tax software, including GoSystem, CCH Axcess, and Corptax, to prepare federal, state, and local income tax returns, and calculate estimated tax and process filings;
    • Utilizing tax research tools, including BNA, CCH, and RIA Checkpoint, to provide tax compliance and consulting services to various clients;
    • Performing analysis for uncertain tax positions, effective tax rate reconciliation, and valuation allowance, and preparing tax deferred tax schedules and tax review memos to properly account for income taxes during the preparation of tax provisions for corporations;
    • Preparing quarterly estimated tax payments for corporations, and preparing schedules for federal and state income tax returns and state franchise tax;
    • Preparing workpapers under applicable SEC and AICPA auditing standards related to the audit of quarterly and annual ASC 740 income tax provision accruals;
    • Assisting in Internal Revenue Service and state tax examinations, responding to Information Document Requests (IDRs), and drafting response memos;
    • Performing compliance for business restructuring over client industries;
    • Identifying and consulting on tax controversy matters; and
    • Mentoring and coaching junior team members and performing campus hire recruitment activities.
  • Position requires approximately 20% domestic travel.
