Deloitte Tax LLP seeks a Tax Senior in San Jose, CA.
Work You’ll Do
Assist clients to manage state tax liability and such challenges as states with unique tax laws, the enforcement focus of state departments of revenue, the growing number of audits, and increased merger and acquisition activity. Provide services relating to business restructuring, credits and incentives, sales and use tax, sales and use tax outsourcing, state income and franchise tax, state strategic tax review, and state tax controversy. Provide compliance and consulting services to corporate and pass-through clients. Identify complex tax issues and provide tax analysis for a variety of entities and their affiliates. Assist with overseeing complex tax research projects for clients in diverse industries as well as research and analyze a wide range of tax issues, such as deferred tax liability issues and tax implications of financing techniques, for a variety of entities and their affiliates. Assist with tax-planning responsibilities for corporate and pass-through clients. Will commute within San Jose, CA area to perform the above job duties.
Requirements
- Bachelor's (or higher) degree in Accounting, Finance, Taxation, Business Administration, Law, or related field (willing to accept foreign education equivalent).
- Eighteen (18) months of experience as a Tax Senior or related occupation gaining experience applying federal, state, and local tax rules to corporate and partnership/LLC clients.
- Experience must include eighteen (18) months of:
- Preparing and reviewing tax returns, estimates, and extensions for corporations and partnerships in multistate jurisdictions;
- Utilizing tax software, including GoSystem and Corptax, to prepare state and local income tax returns in multistate jurisdictions;
- Utilizing tax software and tools, including BNA and CCH Axcess, to perform tax research for multiple states;
- Preparing state income and franchise tax returns for corporations and partnerships based on varying state regulations for the apportionment of income and nexus creating activities;
- Analyzing conflicting state laws across multiple state jurisdictions and applying such analysis to corporate and partnership clients;
- Performing state taxation services, including state apportionments, modifications, and state and local credits calculations, based on varying state regulations;
- Assisting with resolving state tax matters with Department of Revenue (DOR) representatives in multiple state tax jurisdictions; and
- Utilizing data visualization tools, including Alteryx, to build data wrangling models and work flows for complex multistate tax databases.
- Less than 10% domestic travel outside of normal commuting distance.
- Salary: $79,498.00 - $144,300.00/year
