Deloitte Tax LLP seeks a Tax Senior in McLean, Virginia.
Work You’ll Do
Resolve state income and franchise tax and state tax controversy. Provide state compliance and consulting services to corporate and partnership clients. Identify complex tax issues and provide tax analysis for a variety of entities and their affiliates. Assist with spearheading complex tax research projects for clients in diverse industries and researching and analyzing a wide range of tax issues, including deferred tax liability issues and tax implications of financing techniques for a variety of entities and their affiliates. Mentor and coach junior team members. Identify and communicate issues that require the immediate attention of senior team members on the engagement team. Participate in the decision making on project teams.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s (or higher) degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (willing to accept foreign education equivalent).
- Eighteen months as a Tax Senior or related occupation gaining experience performing state taxation services, including state apportionments and state and local modifications and calculations based on varying state regulations.
- Experience must include eighteen months of:
- preparing and reviewing state income or franchise tax extensions and returns and quarterly estimates, for corporations and partnerships based on varying state regulations for the apportionment of income and nexus creating activities;
- reviewing estimated payments and extensions, state income and franchise tax calculations and returns, and related filings for corporations;
- utilizing tax research tools, including CCH and BNA, to research complex tax issues relating to tax law changes, regulations, or tax cases in various states;
- utilizing tax preparation software, including Corptax, GoSystem, ONESOURCE, and SuperForm, to prepare and review corporate and partnership state tax returns;
- preparing complex tax technical memos, and responding to various tax notices;
- investigating and identifying issues and developing resolution and action items for clients to respond to state revenue department assessments, notices and audits;
- providing due diligence for state-related tax matters and collecting, organizing, and analyzing client data for state tax liability computation;
- reviewing data entries for state tax returns and state tax workbooks against federal data for corporate clients;
- monitoring filing due dates for annual and quarterly filing for clients and keeping up-to-date on federal and state tax rule changes that may impact client compliance and tax results; and
- mentoring and coaching junior team members.
