Deloitte Tax LLP seeks a Tax Senior in Chicago, IL.


Work You’ll Do

Provide tax planning and consulting work for multinational clients in order to help them comply with both U.S. and international regulatory requirements and develop an optimal worldwide tax strategy. Advise clients on areas such as intellectual property (IP) migration (migrating from a legal ownership model of IP to a risk-return model as recommended by the OECD under the BEPS program). Develop models for international tax compliance and planning efforts and issues to automate and streamline various tax processes using Excel functionalities, programming using VBA, C# and other languages, as well as other software. Help evaluate risks and likelihood of various tax positions, through research on technical areas such as foreign tax credits, expense allocation and apportionment. Review the work product of consultants and interns on international tax reform modeling projects, completed ASC 740 packages, rolled-over tax provision data, updated foreign exchanges rates and generated tax packages. Lead client service teams in implementing global income tax provision tools including overseeing the completion of tax provision packages, managing client relationships, enhancing the tax provision tools, leading client trainings and responding to technical questions raised by clients. Manage Earnings and Profits (E&P) projects by coaching consultants and interns on the E&P technical areas, reviewing their work product and preparing the deliverables (E&P Memos and work papers).





  • Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Finance, Accounting, Law, Business Administration, or related field (willing to accept foreign education equivalent).
  • Eighteen months of tax quantitative consulting experience.
  • Experience must include eighteen months of:
    • Performing Foreign Tax Credits ("FTC") planning including preparing FTC calculations, sourcing of income, income basketing, overall foreign loss calculations, calculation of the indirect FTCs, FTC limitations, interest apportionment and the determination of tax basis of assets;
    • Performing international tax process automation and improvement by using technology including the use of VBA programming, advanced Excel functions, and OCR technology;
    • Developing and maintaining tax models and applications using VBA, Power Query, Power BI, C#, SQL, MS Azure, and complex Excel formulas;
    • Researching tax technical issues including foreign tax credits, expense allocation and apportionment, Earnings and Profits by utilizing tax research tools, including Westlaw, BNA, CCH and LexisNexis;
    • Assisting clients with the preparation of the global income tax provision as required under ASC 740 including assisting with the calculation of  taxes payable, general ledger reconciliations and effective tax rate reconciliations;
    • Providing customized tax compliance, provision, and planning;
    • Reviewing clients tax positions, models, and international tax reporting processes, and writing reports and memos in order to provide enhancement recommendations;
    • Building custom Alteryx workflows to review large databases for Section 861 & 862 analysis;
    • Training client personnel on the provision aspects of taxes payable, general ledger reconciliations, and effective tax rate reconciliations; and
    • Mentoring and coaching junior staff.
  • Position requires 30% travel.
