Work You’ll Do
Assist clients to balance compliance details and long-term tax strategies as well as understand national, state and local, and international tax structures and align tax functions with business objectives. Provide day-to-day client service relationships and serve as the gateway to a variety of specialized tax services that can help improve compliance with taxing entities while maintaining each client’s overall tax risk profile. Work closely with clients and other members of the team to understand each organization’s global goals and strategies and how industry and economic trends affect the business. Provide tax consulting services to corporate clients. Identify complex tax issues and provide tax analysis for a variety of entities and their affiliates. Primary responsibilities include participating in complex tax research projects for clients in diverse industries, and researching and analyzing a wide range of tax issues related to business transactions and the tax implications of financing techniques for a variety of entities and their affiliates. Assume tax-planning responsibilities for federal clients. Mentor and coach junior team members and escalate issues when necessary.
Requirements
- Bachelor's (or higher) degree in Accounting, Finance, Taxation, or related field (willing to accept foreign education equivalent).
- Eighteen months of experience providing tax planning services.
- Experience must include eighteen months of:
- Providing tax consulting services based on client's prior computation under the principles for the extraterritorial income exclusion regime under former I.R.C. § 114 and foreign sales corporation regime under former I.R.C. § 921-926;
- Providing consulting and tax planning services under § 1341, Claim of Right Doctrine;
- Researching and analyzing tax issues, including capitalizing software development costs under Rev. Proc. 2000-50, analysis of accruals under I.R.C. § 461, and interest capitalization under R.C. § 266;
- Providing tax planning services for corporate taxpayers and their controlled foreign corporations based on I.R.C. § 263A and Treas. Reg. §§ 1.263A-1 through -15;
- Applying federal tax compliance principles to further clients’ global goals and strategies and align them with industry and economic trends;
- Preparing Form 3115, Application for Change in Accounting Method, for accounting method changes and professional deliverables to the client;
- Applying tax codes and regulations to Subpart F and GILTI inclusions for controlled foreign corporations, and reviewing OECD proposals to assess potential impact of the proposed Pillar II regime;
- Utilizing Bloomberg terminal and LexisNexis to research and solve complex tax issues; and
- Mentoring and coaching junior team members.
- Position requires approximately 20% domestic travel.
