Work You’ll Do
Provide tax research and analysis for clients in diverse industries. Assist with tax planning opportunity identification, implementing tax planning projects, and keeping up-to-date on current tax practices and technical issues. Prepare tax returns and supporting schedules and work papers. Review tax returns and supporting schedules prepared by junior team members. Participate in discussions with clients to facilitate understanding of processes and to report results. Prepare financial statement audit memoranda and work papers in accordance with the rules of ASC 740, SSAP 101, and other financial statement guidance. Review financial statement audit memoranda and work papers prepared by junior team members. Hold discussions with audit team and client to solve financial statement audit issues. Prepare tax provision work papers and supporting schedules in accordance with the rules of ASC 740, SSAP 101, and other financial statement guidance. Review tax provision work papers and supporting schedules prepared by junior team members. Participate in provision-related discussions with the client to understand client goals and to explain results. Interface with financial statement auditors in support of GAAP and statutory financial statement audits. Provide coaching, mentoring, and related guidance to junior personnel. Will commute within the Hartford, CT area to consult with clients regarding the above job duties.

Requirements
- Bachelor's (or higher) degree in Accounting, Finance, Taxation, Law or related field (willing to accept foreign education equivalent).
- Eighteen months experience in preparing and reviewing client work papers and tax returns (willing to accept pre- and post-Bachelor’s experience).
- Experience must include one year of:
- Preparing federal and state income tax returns for C-Corporations, Partnerships, and high net worth individuals;
- Utilizing tax software, including GoSystem and Corptax, to prepare federal, state, local, and international income tax returns, and calculate estimated tax and process filings;
- Utilizing tax research tools, including BNA, CCH, and RIA Checkpoint, to provide tax compliance and consulting services to various clients;
- Performing analysis for FIN 48, effective tax rate reconciliation, and valuation allowance, and preparing tax deferred tax schedules and tax review memos to properly account for income taxes during the preparation of tax provisions for corporations;
- Preparing quarterly estimated tax payments for corporations, and preparing schedules for federal and state income tax returns and state franchise tax;
- Preparing quarterly and annual provisions in accordance with ASC 740;
- Auditing income tax provisions in accordance with ASC 740/ SSAP101/ Statutory basis accounting for interim and yearend periods including review of the deferred and current provisions, uncertain tax position analysis, and state/local accruals;
- Assisting corporations in Internal Revenue Service and state tax examinations, responding to Information Document Requests (IDRs), and drafting response memos; and
- Mentoring and coaching junior team members.
- Less than 5% travel outside of normal commuting distance.
