Work You’ll Do
Assist clients to manage state tax liability and such challenges as states with unique tax laws, the enforcement focus of state departments of revenue, the growing number of audits, and increased merger and acquisition activity. Services include business restructuring, credits and incentives, sales and use tax, sales and use tax outsourcing, state income and franchise tax, state strategic tax review, and state tax controversy. Provide compliance and consulting services to corporate and individual clients. Identify complex tax issues and provide tax analysis for a variety of entities and their affiliates. Primary responsibilities include overseeing complex tax research projects for clients in diverse industries as well as researching and analyzing a wide range of tax issues such as deferred tax liability issues and tax implications of financing techniques for a variety of entities and their affiliates. Assume tax-planning responsibilities for corporate and individual clients. Will commute within the New York, NY area to consult with clients concerning the above job duties.

Requirements
- Bachelor's (or higher) degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (willing to accept foreign education equivalent).
- Eighteen months experience in preparing tax returns.
- Experience must include eighteen months of:
- Utilizing tax research tools, including CCH and BNA, to research complex tax issues relating to tax law changes, regulations, or tax cases;
- Utilizing tax preparation software, including Corptax, GoSystem, ONESOURCE, and SuperForm, to prepare and review corporate and partnership state tax returns;
- Preparing or reviewing estimated payment and withholding calculations and related filings for pass-through entities or corporations;
- Preparing state income and franchise tax returns for corporations and partnerships based on varying state regulations for the apportionment of income and nexus creating Activities;
- Mediating between clients and state revenue departments to resolve state assessments, notices, and audits;
- Directing client contacts to gather information, updates on potential liabilities and outcomes of tax assessments;
- Conducting research and tracking new guidelines and regulations on tax developments in various states;
- Mentoring and coaching junior team members; and
- Applying federal, state, and local tax rules to corporate clients.
Less than 10% travel outside of normal commuting distance.
Salary: $87,942.00 - $109,620.00/year;
