Deloitte Tax LLP seeks a Tax Senior in Chicago, IL.

Work You’ll Do

Develop new tax service offerings and technology solutions to assist in delivery tax services to clients. Support software development teams, including gathering and documenting system/business requirements as user stories and use cases, providing process and screen flows, developing and executing test cases and test product concepts, and developing and maintaining project plans. Work to understand company-specific business and tax issues and work with the company to optimize its tax position to identify technology solutions and mitigate risk areas. Assist clients’ tax departments in moving from their current state to the next generation of tax functions to improve their tax operations, and work with senior team members to deliver tax consulting services to clients. Assist clients in streamlining their tax compliance processes, and developing custom technology solutions to streamline the compliance processes, specifically in the areas of partnership-specific tax calculations and Schedule K-1 preparation. Perform complex tax research for clients in diverse industries, perform research and analysis of a wide range of tax issues encountered on our engagements. Mentor and coach junior team members. Develop client service relationships and facilitate specialized Deloitte Tax services to improve compliance with taxing entities while maintaining each client’s overall tax risk profile. Apply federal tax compliance principles and work closely with clients as well as the Deloitte Tax Team to further clients’ global goals and strategies and align them with industry and economic trends.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's (or higher) degree in Accounting, Finance, Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (willing to accept foreign education equivalent).
  • Eighteen months of experience performing tax compliance and tax technology system development for investment management, hedge fund, private equity, and insurance companies.
  • Experience must include eighteen months of:
    • Assisting clients with Schedule K-1 processing;
    • Providing tax planning processing, technology and tax department review, and optimization for investment management, hedge fund, private equity, and insurance companies;
    • Collaborating with clients to assist, design, and streamline their tax compliance processes, including partnership-specific tax calculations, allocations through tiered partnership structures, and Schedule K-1 preparation;
    • Utilizing tax software, including MS Access, GoSystem, and Corptax, to provide tax compliance and consulting services to various clients;
    • Performing detail-level review of investors’ Schedule K-1s, and utilizing tax technology software to prepare foreign tax form filings, STAT, and tax basis analysis for federal partnership tax compliance;
    • Performing technology production support to engagement teams, and utilizing web-based applications to perform complex partnership allocations for large-cap firms; and
    • Coordinating with onsite and offshore teams and software developers to conduct extensive testing of tax technologies.
