What you’ll do

As a professional in Deloitte’s Tax Technology Consulting (TTC) team, you will be a part of a team that provides a holistic and integrated approach to refine and further automate our software development lifecycle. As a database engineer whose broad-based skills and experience include SQL Server development, architecture, and performance tuning you will be an integral part of our team.

As a SQL Server Database Engineer, you will contribute to the growth and success of Deloitte Tax LLP in a variety of ways, including:

  • Optimization: Development and tuning of all database objects, while monitoring and maintaining system health and performance. This would also include daily management of SQL databases.
  • Quality Assurance: Review SQL Store Procedures and Queries for Performance and provide regular feedback, along with troubleshooting and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Collaboration: Working closely with development team throughout the process of writing and deploying database code. This may include providing guidance on complex queries and the optimization of processes and statements.
  • People development: Participate in the development of team members.
  • Cross Functional Teaming: Understand and articulate the broader TMC practice and Deloitte overall.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Math, Physics, Engineering, or similar degree
  • 2+ years of SQL Server database engineering/development experience including utilizing stored procedures, functions, triggers, and queries.
  • Advanced knowledge of SQL Server 2014+ architecture and Transact-SQL (T-SQL)
  • Experience in architecting solutions based on Microsoft Azure Data Platform including Azure SQL, Azure SQL Data Warehouse, Azure Data Lake, and Azure Analysis Services.
  • Experience in using NoSQL storage technologies such as Azure Cosmos DB, MongoDB and Cassandra.
  • Experience in using Data Visualization tools such as PowerBI
  • Advanced knowledge of high availability environments
  • Experience with Graph DB, No SQL Database
  • Ability to travel 25%, on average, based on the work you do and the clients and industries/sectors you serve

Preferred:

  • Experience with Big 4 and/or tax experience
  • Experience with Azure PaaS like Azure SQL DB, Cosmos DB , Azure Table Storage, etc.
  • Applicable certification
  • One of the following accreditations obtained, in process, or willing and able to obtain:
    • Licensed CPA in state of practice/primary office if eligible to sit for the CPA
    • If not CPA eligible, one of the other designations listed below based on role requirements and business approval:
      • Licensed Attorney
      • Enrolled Agent
      • Project Management Professional (PMP)
      • Chartered Financial Advisor (CFA)
      • Professional Engineer
      • Technology Certification including, but not limited, to the below:
        • CBAP - Certified Business Analysis Professional
        • Microsoft Azure
        • Microsoft Certified Solutions Developer (MCSD)
        • Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE)
        • Certified Business Analysis Professional (PgMP)
        • Microsoft MCSD Certification
        • Six Sigma (Green or Black Belt)

At Deloitte Tax LLP, our Tax Technology Consulting (TTC) practice helps tax departments pursue a streamlined, transparent, and efficient tax function that enhances the core responsibilities of compliance, reporting and planning, while also positioning tax as a strategic business advisor for the digital era. We specialize in tax and can effectively address a corporate tax function’s unique needs, requirements and obligations. As technology specialists, we help clients make appropriate technology choices for both direct and indirect taxes across all business cycles that have a tax impact tax. Our team, the largest of its type, offers the necessary combination of skills, methodology and practical experience to help clients with a successful ERP implementation.

Deloitte TTC professionals are aligned across our global network of member firms to support our clients’ objectives and address their challenges. Our team’s multi-disciplinary approach combines tax technical and technology skillsets, enabling greater impact and efficiency within our client’s organization. TMC’s business services help clients with operating model evaluation, roadmap development for a desired future state, data management solutions, automation opportunities, tax portal, cloud for enterprise systems, agile resourcing models, risk, provision and compliance. 

The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. At Deloitte, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $87010 to $184210.

You may also be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program, subject to the rules governing the program, whereby an award, if any, depends on various factors, including, without limitation, individual and organizational performance.
