Deloitte Tax LLP seeks a Tax Manager in Midland, MI.

Work You’ll Do

Provide an integrated approach to process improvement that can help the tax department maximize its strategic value to the organization. Oversee the day-to-day interactions with executive clients and sponsors. Oversee and deliver components of client engagements that identify, design, and implement technology and creative business solutions for large companies. Oversee teams in the identification of business requirements, functional design, process design (including scenario design and flow mapping), prototyping, testing, training, and defining support procedures. Perform role of counselor and coach; provide input and guidance into the staffing process. Actively participate in staff recruitment and retention activities. Provide leadership and support for delivery teams and staff in local offices. Develop and maintain contact with top decision makers at key clients. Organize and lead pursuit teams. Participate and lead aspects of the proposal development process. Contribute to the development of proposal pricing strategies.



  • Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Computer Information Systems, or related field (willing to accept foreign education equivalent).
  • Five years of experience performing ERP configuration and implementation.
  • Experience must include five years of:
    • Reviewing business processes, work papers, and tax returns to gather tax requirements, reviewing functional specification documents to identify tax impact, and designing business processes using software tools, including MS Visio;
    • Performing tax bolt-on package evaluation, solution design, development, implementation, system configuration and testing;
    • Designing and configuring SAP financial modules through use of new general ledger accounting, accounts receivable, accounts payable, tax and bank accounting functions for finance and technology consulting processes, and integrating financial and tax SAP modules with Sales and Distribution, Materials Management, Project System, Production Planning, and Plant Maintenance modules;
    • Gathering and documenting indirect tax requirements for business, performing system fit and gap analysis and impact analysis, and drafting test scenarios related to indirect tax for testing and resolving any defects;
    • Implementing ERP tax solutions, including requirements analysis, design of solution, configuration of system, and testing go-live, and developing solutions for implementing transaction tax tools, including ONESOURCE Indirect Tax and Vertex, that integrate with SAP;
    • Developing business cases to justify decisions for implementing ERP systems with tax software, and developing tax technology roadmaps;
    • Utilizing data mining techniques to perform data analysis and identify business problems for clients, and translating business problems into analytical information to be presented in management dashboards, and coordinating with clients to identify opportunities for automation and robotics to incorporate within existing processes;
    • Providing tax transformation system solutions for countries/regions, including Europe, Canada, India, and Brazil, by applying indirect tax types, including VAT, GST, and HST Sales & Use tax;
    • Multi-tasking across a range of high-level environments, including tax performance testing, unit testing, integration testing, user-acceptance testing, go-live, and extended support; and
    • Mentoring, delegating, and training junior staff and interns on technical improvements and client-facing skills, and collaborating with both on and offshore teams on client engagement matters.
  • Position requires approximately 80% travel.
