Deloitte Tax LLP seeks a Tax Manager in Dallas, TX.

Work You’ll Do

Oversee day-to-day client service relationships and provide tax services to help improve compliance and maintain client’s overall tax risk profile. Oversee the delivery of tax planning services including preparing and reviewing client work papers and income tax returns. Responsible for keeping up-to-date on current tax practices and technical issues. Analyze the client's business and tax systems, taking responsibility for clearing open items relating to assigned areas, and meeting client deadlines. Oversee the preparation of tax work papers and tax returns including extensions, estimates, and tax provisions. Coordinate data gathering with various functions, gather data electronically and at the appropriate level of detail, and review data for completeness. Integrate data collection, reviewing client financials, calculating preliminary taxable income and various tax return items, and reviewing and signing off on tentative taxable income. Responsible for providing tax research and analyses for clients in diverse industries.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, Taxation, or related field (willing to accept foreign education equivalent).
  • Three years of experience providing tax planning services or preparing and reviewing client work papers and tax returns.
  • Experience must include three years of:
    • Preparing and reviewing PFIC (Passive Foreign Investment Corporation) statement, Form 5471, Form 926, Trust Return 1041, Form 1065, Form 1120 Form 8865, and Schedule K-1s for asset management clients, including hedge funds and private equity companies;
    • Applying tax codes and regulations relating to CFC (Controlled Foreign Company), subpart F income, and derivative transactions, including TRS (total return swap), interest rate swap, and currency swaps;
    • Preparing taxable income calculation and phantom income reconciliation, and calculating tax basis amortization of original issuance discount, market discount and premium;
    • Utilizing Bloomberg terminal and LexisNexis to research and solve complex tax issues; and
    • Utilizing tax software including GoSystem, ProSystem, Corptax and CCH Axcess to provide tax compliance services to clients.
  • In the alternative, the employer is willing to accept a Bachelor's degree and five years of experience as stated above.
  • Experience must include one year of:
    • Interacting directly with senior management of the tax team and tax clients to discuss tax issue resolution and continuity;
    • Supervising engagements, including full life cycle of engagements, staffing, budgeting, and closing out projects; and
    • Supervising and reviewing the work of tax teams both on site and overseas.
