Work You’ll Do
Research and analyze a wide range of tax issues encountered on engagements. Oversee day-to-day client service relationships and provide tax services to help improve compliance and maintain client’s overall tax risk profile. Work closely with clients and provide support to members of the Deloitte Tax team in order to understand each organization’s global goals and strategies and analyze how industry and economic trends affect the business. Oversee the delivery of tax planning services including preparing and reviewing client work papers and income tax returns. Responsible for keeping up-to-date on current tax practices and technical issues, analyzing the client's business and tax systems, taking responsibility for clearing open items relating to assigned areas, and meeting client deadlines. Oversee the preparation of tax work papers and tax returns including extensions, estimates, and tax provisions. Coordinate data gathering with various functions, gather data electronically and at the appropriate level of detail, and review data for completeness. Integrate data collection, reviewing client financials, calculating preliminary taxable income and various tax return items, and reviewing and signing off on tentative taxable income.
Requirements
- Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, Taxation, Law, or related field (willing to accept foreign education equivalent).
- Three years of experience providing tax planning services or preparing and reviewing client work papers and tax returns.
- Experience must include two years of:
- Applying tax technical experience to advise clients on blockchain and digital asset currency issues, including token analysis, cryptocurrency basis tracking, foreign tax structuring, and digital asset-based compliance;
- Assessing clients’ current state business developments, evaluating legal entity and tax structuring strategies, analyzing transformation information to identify tax implications, and developing tax strategies for token and IP movements;
- Developing tax-efficient solutions and client deliverables through understanding of clients’ business activities, and applying tax and business considerations to create entity organizational charts and customized operational transaction workflows;
- Leading income tax compliance for corporate tax clients through all phases of the engagement lifecycle, including leading taxable income assessments, reviewing quarterly estimated tax payments and extensions, reviewing federal, state, and local tax returns preparation, and reviewing and filing for corporations;
- Reviewing year-end compliance and quarterly estimates for real estate investment clients, analyzing trial balances and capital accounts, reviewing partnership allocation and tax basis workers, and preparing income tax compliance client deliverables, including partnership allocation reports, Schedule K-1s, Form 1065, and state returns for partnerships;
- Utilizing tax software, including Corptax and GoSystem, to prepare federal, state, local, and international income tax returns, and utilizing tax research tools, including BNA, CCH, and RIA Checkpoint, to provide tax compliance and consulting services to various clients;
- Reviewing and preparing quarterly and annual income tax provisions in accordance with ASC 740, performing analysis for FIN 48, effective tax rate reconciliation, and valuation allowance, and preparing tax deferred tax schedules and tax review memos to properly account for income taxes during the preparation of tax provisions for corporations;
- Working with audit teams to provide audit procedures support, preparing income tax specialist audit reports, and reviewing income tax disclosures of 10-K and 10-Q;
- Reviewing multiple client engagement workstreams, including coordinating with client contacts, including cross-border branches, legal counsels, and third-party vendors, to develop various workstreams and consolidate action items; and
- Assisting with overseeing engagement matters, including client onboarding, inter-firm referral processing, recordkeeping and documentation, tracking key workstreams, and mentoring and coaching junior team members.
- Salary: $105,073.00 - $193,440.00/year.
