Work You’ll Do
Assist clients with state tax liability matters and such challenges as states with unique tax laws, the enforcement focus of state departments of revenue, the growing number of audits, and increased merger and acquisition activity. Oversee projects, including business restructuring, credits and incentives, state income and franchise tax, state strategic tax review, and state tax controversy. Oversee compliance and consulting services to corporate and pass-through clients. Responsible for the diagnosis, solution, development and implementation of clients' tax needs. Oversee client accounts through delivering all tax consulting services to the client and bringing in specialists when necessary. Oversee complex tax research projects for clients in diverse industries, and participate in engagements requiring tax analysis for a variety of entities and their affiliates. Assume tax-planning responsibilities for corporate and pass-through clients. Supervise assignments by the professional accountants serving as Tax Consultants and Tax Seniors. Responsible for the development and motivation of junior staff and for providing leadership, counseling and guidance. Analyze clients’ tax data and provide tax automation and process improvement solutions. Review tax returns, extensions, and quarterly estimates. Participate in the decision making on project teams.

Requirements
- Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, Taxation, or related field (willing to accept foreign education equivalent).
- Three years of experience applying state and local tax rules to corporate and individual clients.
- Experience must include three years of:
- Performing tax research utilizing Corptax, GoSystem, RIA CheckPoint, OneSource, BNA, and CCH and utilizing Bloomberg terminal and LexisNexis to research and solve complex tax issues;
- Performing state taxation services, including state apportionments, modifications and state and local credits calculation, based on varying state regulations;
- Mediating between client and state revenue department to resolve state tax notices, audits, and other tax-related issues/inquiries;
- Preparing complex tax technical memos and responding to Information Document Requests (IDRs) and various tax notices;
- Providing income and franchise tax consulting, tax planning, state tax audit defense, and income tax accounting services for multistate companies;
- Preparing and reviewing state income or franchise tax extensions, quarterly estimates, K-1s, and returns for pass-through entities and corporations based on varying state regulations for the apportionment of income and nexus creating activities;
- Analyzing conflict state issues, including state audit provisions, multi-state corporate conversions, and tax restructuring issues;
- Preparing and filing withholding and composite returns for partnerships and limited liability companies in multi-state jurisdictions;
- Researching and preparing technical memoranda models, nexus, instant unity, apportionment, restructuring, and market sourcing studies in accordance with IRC Sections 951A, 250, 965, 512(a)(7), 382, 383 for various state and city jurisdictions; and
- Assisting with the full lifecycle of an engagement, including assisting with staffing, billing, and closing out projects.
- Salary: $126,630.00 - $235,170.00/year;
