Deloitte Tax LLP seeks a Tax Manager in Charlotte, NC.

Work You’ll Do

Oversee, lead and conduct tax technology implementation, tax data management and data wrangling projects. Responsible for the day-to-day oversight of projects as well as technology and process consultation in the delivery of process enhancement and technology projects to corporate clients. Implement tax technology tools, software, and systems. Guide clients through their selection of software packages. Evaluate clients’ current tax-related processes and data management processes, pinpoint inefficiencies and pain points, delineate future-state processes, devise solutions for improvements, collect requirements for the new technology solutions, and implement the solutions. Assist clients with integrating tax technologies into their processes, train clients to use newly implemented tax technology tools, and support clients with their use of tax technology tools. Help develop and motivate engagement staff, and provide leadership, counseling, and career guidance. Work with PPMDs (Partners, Principals and Managing Directors), Senior Managers, Managers and Senior Consultants to design client deliverables, convert client requirements into actual designs, and deliver these solutions to clients. Oversee project status, financial, staffing, resource planning, client expectations and communications. Develop pursuits and proposal materials, and set up demo environment and participate in internal and external trainings and demos. Develop scoping and pricing estimates for new projects and create work orders, statements of work (SOWs), and pricing tools. Oversee relationships with software vendors and facilitate communications and collaborations between Deloitte and vendors. Interact with internal functional subject matter experts and clients to understand business problems being addressed by the project or client engagement. Lead and coordinate user acceptance testing (UAT) to compile comprehensive testing scenarios and identify flaws and improvements to the newly built systems and processes.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Management Information Systems, Computer Information Systems, Business Administration, or related field (willing to accept foreign education equivalent).
  • Three years of experience designing and building tax workpapers, implementing tax systems, and streamlining tax data management process using data wrangling techniques and macros.
  • Experience must include two years of:
    • Gathering and documenting tax technology requirements for corporate tax departments, performing system fit and gap analysis, and automating and enhancing tax workpapers for various tax processes using advanced Excel functionalities and programming, including writing VBA scripts (macros), Power Query, and XML mappings;
    • Conducting user acceptance testing to compile comprehensive test scenarios and identify flaws and improvements to newly built systems and processes;
    • Performing Thomson Reuters ONESOURCE software implementation, including ONESOURCE DataFlow (“DataFlow”), WorkFlow Manager (“OWM”), and Calendar, and integrating DataFlow workpapers with tax software tools, including ONESOURCE Tax Provision (“OTP”), ONESOURCE Income Tax (“OIT”), ONESOURCE State Apportionment (“OSA”), and Corptax;
    • Designing, building, and configuring DataFlow workpapers for federal and state tax compliance, federal and international provisions, tax payments and transaction tracking, and partnership tax calculations;
    • Enhancing and automating data management processes, including data push and pull and data collection, consolidation and reconciliation, and enabling inter-connectivity between technology platforms, including trial balance or enterprise resource planning (“ERP”) systems, data wrangling in Alteryx, tax workpapers, tax provision or compliance software, and reporting workbooks;
    • Designing, building, and configuring Alteryx data wrangling solutions for trial balance data collection and transformation, sales & use tax monthly compliance data automation, and state apportionment calculations;
    • Performing global tax-related enterprise data blueprinting for multinational clients, devising data integration plans between ERP systems, and advising clients on their tax technology opportunities and priorities for future initiatives;
    • Implementing and working with ONESOURCE DataFlow Classic platform and DataFlow (NextGen) platforms, including migrating client environment from Classic to NextGen platform, interacting and collaborating with Thomson Reuters, testing new features and updates to the DataFlow product, identifying issues, bugs, and potential improvements, and communicating issues to the DataFlow product development team;
    • Interacting directly with senior management of the engagement team and clients to discuss issues, resolution, and continuity, creating client demos and pursuit materials, setting up demo environments for DataFlow, and participating in internal and external demos; and
    • Developing project scoping and pricing estimates, drafting work orders and contracts, building project pricing models, designing and creating PowerPoint decks for project kickoff, status reporting, trainings, proposals, and technology recommendations, and visualizing current processes and devising future process flows using Visio.
  • Position requires approximately 80% domestic travel.
