Work You’ll Do
Review and recommend revisions for the assembled client deliverables. Review strategic analysis of consolidated and standardized source data. Work with local office Deloitte Tax professionals to assist clients with fundamental tax planning and analysis. Work to understand company-specific business and tax issues and work with the company to optimize its tax position to identify and mitigate risk areas. Review variance analysis and trend analysis for client workpapers. Create project work plans and monitor progress to ensure timelines are met for research and development tax credit. Mentor and coach junior team members. Assist clients with IRS audit defense, including drafting responses and engaging in technical discussions. Review workpapers/credit model built by junior staff.

Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Taxation, Economics, Finance, or related field (willing to accept foreign education equivalent, including a three-year foreign degree).
- Four years of experience providing research and development tax credit and incentive services.
- Experience must include four years of:
- Building credit models using Microsoft Excel based on quantitative and qualitative inputs, and consolidating clients' information, including acquisition and disposition, tax position, and industry news to optimize clients' credits and incentive opportunities;
- Reviewing client work papers, and performing variance analysis and trend analysis using Microsoft Excel to ensure consistency and completeness of source data and sufficient document retention;
- Collaborating with internal and external specialists to determine qualifications of projects and drafting technical memorandum;
- Creating project work plans and monitoring progress to ensure timelines are met for research and development tax credit;
- Interacting directly with client tax management to collect and organize payroll and general ledger source data for credit and incentives analysis;
- Leading and attending technical interviews with client personnel to understand their R&D efforts and to the prepare project write-ups for qualitative support for the tax credit claimed;
- Assisting clients with completing surveys in order to quantify the R&D tax credit and preparing credit calculation models to help clients calculate their R&D tax credit;
- Assisting clients with IRS audit defense with tax credit through responses to IRS IDRs and technical discussions with IRS Engineers; and
- Mentoring and coaching junior team members.
- Salary: $111,300.00 - $206,700.00
