Work You’ll Do
Lead teams in providing assistance to multinational clients in integrating indirect tax planning into their overall business strategy and complying with international Value Added Tax (VAT) requirements. Oversee the provision of assistance to companies undertaking global contracting, global supply chain operations, financial services and insurance, mergers & acquisitions, VAT technology and compliance solutions, or cash flow optimization to identify and comply with VAT regulations. Oversee the provision of VAT and similar indirect tax consulting and compliance services to multinational companies. Assist clients to understand the implications of VAT developments, minimize worldwide VAT burdens on business transactions and operations, and consult with clients to structure VAT efficient global operations. Oversee supply chain analysis to assist clients in maintaining a more VAT efficient structure. Research methods of improving VAT recovery and manage the risk of material VAT exposure. Assist clients employing enterprise resource planning or other technology applications to assess VAT implications for their companies. Assess potential risks and identify opportunities for VAT recoveries. Map transactions to assess tax determination of supplies and the impact for the implementation of ERP systems. Direct system design and architecture, including tax coding, conditioning tables, and reporting functions.

Requirements
- Master's degree in Economics, Finance, Law, Accounting, Taxation, or related field (willing to accept foreign education equivalent).
- Three years of experience advising companies on the indirect tax implications of their operations with respect to value-added tax (VAT).
- In the alternative, the employer is willing to accept a Bachelor's degree and five years of experience as stated above.
- Experience must include one year of:
- Applying VAT legislation, including providing technical and practical VAT advisory services and applying EU VAT Directive and EU VAT law standards;
- Researching changes to VAT law and VAT case law through the use of various resources, including Jura, IBFD (International Bureau of Fiscal Documentation), OECD, CURIA, and CJEU;
- Conducting VAT strategic reviews and drafting tax compliance manuals and procedures;
- Performing due diligence, structuring, planning and post-transaction implementation for mergers and acquisitions from a VAT perspective;
- Assisting with the filing of VAT registrations, VAT returns, refund claims for EU and non-EU entities and other required filings (including VAT deferments and other VAT simplifications);
- Assisting with overseeing VAT projects, providing leadership, mentoring and developing junior members of the team, and assisting with reviewing the work of teams;
- Assisting with overseeing engagements, including the full lifecycle of engagements, staffing, budgeting, and closing out projects, and directly interacting with senior-level team members to discuss engagement-related issues;
- Providing tax technical advice in relation to the implementation of ERP and financial implementations, including SAP and Oracle, to handle VAT accounting (including advice on software or systems selections, gap analysis on VAT functionality, recommendations on options, solutions and implementations); and
- Corresponding with clients in relation to their VAT matters, providing timely updates, and corresponding with tax authorities through disclosures, VAT refund claims, VAT audits, and VAT rulings.
Salary: $131,206.00 - $137,766.00/year;
