Work You’ll Do

As a BA Manager on our team, you will be collaborating with Tax SMEs, quality assurance testers, and application developers to design and create scalable solutions to automate tax compliance processes. Additionally, you will:

  • Assist product owner in leading, directing and reviewing all activities associated with delivering technology products.
  • Elicit requirements using JAD sessions, meetings, brainstorming sessions, interviews, and observation.
  • Collaborate with tax subject matter experts to collect software product requirements, translate them into system requirement specification document.
  • Perform requirement analysis and categorize requirements into must have, should have and good to have categories.
  • Work with product owner to define product backlog, sprint backlog and assign backlog priority.
  • Requirements management – Slice epics into quantifiable Product Back log items and track them from development to deployment using Team Foundation Server.
  • Keep product backlog updated by defining acceptance criteria, priority and supporting document.
  • Develop and create functional Prototypes to drive detailed specifications of the application and enable the stakeholders to perceive the proposition.
  • Create system requirement specification, change request document, wireframes, process flow diagrams and other artifacts to capture system requirements.
  • Create prototypes and mock-ups to illustrate proposed changes to system.
  • Evaluate and analyze business and technical requirements to be in accord with the documented scope.
  • Collaborate with cross functional teams to develop, deploy, support, and enhance software solution.
  • Participate, co-ordinate and assist subject matter expertise in user acceptance testing (UAT).
  • Propose scalable solutions to support different fact patterns and business cases.
  • Provide production support to tax practitioners by performing root cause analysis of production issues and suggest workarounds.
  • Lead and participate in scrum ceremonies (daily scrum, grooming session, sprint planning, sprint review and sprint retrospective).
  • Conduct Retrospection meetings with the scrum team every sprint end for listing what went well, what went wrong and the improvements the team can make.
  • Manage a team of Business Analysts.
  • Groom business analyst team to understand domain and software solution.

National Federal Tax Services (NFTS) is a national practice within Deloitte Tax LLP made up of a number of tax service offerings. Each NFTS service offering has been developed and built as a result of a tax planning idea, a marketplace driver, or a technological innovation - all with the purpose of delivering results for our clients. Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business information systems, computer science, business/technology, or similar degree
  • 5+ years’ experience in business analysis experience in product development, deployment, and support.
  • Extensive experience in requirement gathering processes, creating business and system requirement specifications.
  • Experience with Microsoft ADO or similar tools for maintaining product backlog.
  • Proficient in BA tools like Visio, Microsoft Office and wireframe tools.
  • Ability to model tax/accounting calculations in Excel
    Experience in creating unambiguous business and system requirement specifications.
  • Ability to collaborate and work in a high paced scrum methodology.
  • Experience with SDLC methodologies
  • Experience with writing SQL Scripts for trouble shooting and analysis.
  • Experience of Agile methodologies and SCRUM processes.
  • Advanced written, verbal analytical and communications skills
  • Ability to travel up to 25% if needed, based on the work you do and the clients and industries/sectors you serve
  • One of the following accreditations obtained:
    • Licensed CPA in state of practice/primary office if eligible to sit for the CPA
    • If not CPA eligible, one of the other designations listed below based on role requirements and business approval:
      • Licensed Attorney
      • Enrolled Agent
      • Project Management Professional (PMP)
      • Chartered Financial Advisor (CFA)
      • Professional Engineer
      • Technology Certification including, but not limited, to the below
        • CBAP - Certified Business Analysis Professional
        • Microsoft Azure
        • Microsoft Certified Solutions Developer (MCSD)
        • Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE)
        • Program Management Professional (PMP)
        • Microsoft MCSD Certification
        • Six Sigma (Green or Black Belt)


Preferred:

  • CBAP certification obtained or in process or must be able/willing to obtain.
  • Experience working in Financial Services environment.
  • Experience working in consulting environment.
  • Demonstrated effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and virtually.
  • Ability to understand business problem(s) being addressed by the project.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to learn and apply new technologies.
  • Knowledge of an object-oriented programming is a plus – preferably C#
  • Experience with CI/CD tools preferably Azure DevOps.

The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. At Deloitte, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $120,610 to $223,990.

You may also be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program, subject to the rules governing the program, whereby an award, if any, depends on various factors, including, without limitation, individual and organizational performance.
