The Sr Business Case Advisor, an Associate Vice President (AVP) level role, is a new and critical function within the New Business Innovation (NBI) business unit and focused on advancing Deloitte Consulting’s growth agenda. This role will work cross functionally with Consulting leadership and leverage existing business model frameworks to produce comprehensive business cases for Deloitte’s newest hybrid – services and software – offerings. It will be critical for this leader to both effectively advise and execute on hybrid business case creation to inform some of Deloitte Consulting’s biggest investments. The Sr Business Case Advisor will also need to balance detailed financial analysis with the ability to summarize complex investment data for a senior leadership audience to inform strategic business decisions.

Leveraging input from adjacent teams to inform the “strategic rationale” section of each hybrid business case (which includes topics such as: the business problem; external market validation and competitive landscape; cascading choices around capabilities, resources, and operating model etc.), this role will primarily be responsible for producing the “investment” portion of the business case. The Sr Business Case Advisor will be expected to proactively facilitate discussions with key stakeholders to create detailed multi-year P&Ls, down to profit and cashflow, along with anticipated market share trajectory estimates. This role will evaluate the aggregate investment required to execute a hybrid offering, and break down how investments will be allocated across both organic (e.g., product development, change management, marketing, training etc.) and inorganic (e.g., acquisitions, ecosystem, hiring etc.) costs.

Additionally, this role will be required to work collaboratively with appropriate teams to support production of a strategic roadmap, which includes an overview of the technical capabilities required for a hybrid solution to achieve stated revenue and margin targets. Each business case is also expected to contain identified risks and corresponding mitigations.

This role will serve as the leader of “Center of Excellence” responsibilities for the Hybrid Business Case Advisory function, overseeing the development and continuous improvement of associated methodologies, best practices, standard team documentation and execution of workstreams. This focus aims to maximize value for key stakeholders through the impact on hybrid businesses by driving additional efficiencies.

Essential functions of this role include:

  • Provide ongoing advisement to practice leadership to accurately inform detailed financial analyses supporting significant investment decisions
  • Proactively orchestrate and lead collaborative discussions to identify critical financial, technical and other information necessary to develop required data for business case creation
  • Produce detailed multi-year P&Ls, down to profit and cashflow, along with anticipated market share trajectory estimates
  • Evaluate aggregates investment required to execute a hybrid offering, breaking down investment allocations across both organic and inorganic costs
  • Summarize and simplify detailed financial analyses for senior leadership audiences, effectively communicating critical findings and business case content to better inform significant investment decisions
  • Work with senior business leaders to identify risks and corresponding mitigations to protect future investments
  • Manage “Center of Excellence” functions for the Hybrid Business Case Advisory function, working with other groups across Consulting with similar charters for other areas of the business (e.g. services-only offerings) to drive toward continuous improvement in approach and methodology
  • Work with New Business Innovation leadership to manage intake and pipeline of hybrid offering business case needs
  • Navigate within/ outside of NBI to leverage deeper subject matter expertise as needed and remove friction
  • Continually improve understanding of pricing and monetization options for various business models to advise for maximize profitability and offer creative deal/ commercial structures
  • Develop knowledge of Deloitte’s Independence, Risk, OGC, and Enterprise Portfolio Management foundations to best inform appropriate areas of each hybrid business case


  • Bachelor's Degree Business, Economics, Finance or equivalent field; MBA preferred
  • 7-10 years of demonstrated success in fast-paced strategic roles with progressively advancing responsibility for creating and/ or shaping business investment cases for new, nascent and existing technology-enabled offerings
  • Demonstrable subject matter expertise in detailed financial analysis and forecasting, with a broader strategic knowledge of how various scenarios can impact investment decisions
  • Strong working knowledge of software business models and business model innovation/ incubation
  • Skillful executive presence and presentation skills, with demonstrable ability to tactfully and effectively influence upward decision making
  • Proven ability to successfully collaborate with internal stakeholders from various levels and areas across a matrixed organization and drive successful outcomes cross-functionally
