Manager, Software Asset Management TMO

Work you’ll do

As a Manager in the Technology Management Office (TMO), you will be responsible for the operations of the Software Asset Management (SAM) program and team, including the management and oversight of SAM technologies. Working in partnership with IT delivery, vendor management, procurement and risk organizations, you will have responsibility for overseeing the management and support of the software lifecycle. You will provide insights into the software landscape that drive positive business outcomes, maximize value of investments and align to business objectives with the overall goal to reduce cost and mitigate risk to the organization.

Responsibilities:

  • Report directly to SAM Program Lead.
  • Serve as a hands-on leader that understands and can perform the tactical and strategic functions as needed.
  • Lead and advise on the SAM best practices for software lifecycle processes and cost leadership.
  • Lead a team of Software Asset Analysts.
  • Documents and communicates SAM concepts and objectives that align with the strategic goals of the organization to various stakeholders and internal customers.
  • Develops program-level project plans as required and ensures execution is within the allocated budget and timeline.
  • Responsible for reviewing and updating the SAM policies and procedures.
  • Work with SAM Program Lead to raise awareness of SAM processes and policies across designated functions.
  • Work in collaboration with the SAM Program Lead to establish priorities, monitor program performance, develop financial cost savings/avoidance, and track against the SAM KPIs.
  • Responsible for the management of the SAM tool and processes that are required to deliver software license management services.
  • Responsible for overall SAM tool operations, maintenance and integration from various data sources.
  • Drive ongoing continuous improvement initiatives to improve data quality, best practices for SAM tool usage, and costs associated with SAM solutions
  • Establish and maintain effective partnerships with key stakeholders aimed at identifying, understanding and fulfilling their requirements.
  • Manages escalation and arbitration of relationship and operational issues if other avenues fail, includes leading corrective action plans to resolve.
  • Ensures effective communication between the organization and each SAM stakeholders.

Technology Management Office

The Technology Management Office ensures a smooth, efficient, and fiscally-sound technology operation for ITS. This multi-disciplinary team runs IT as a business by transforming IT finance, reporting project portfolio metrics, quality, deployment, delivery, and adoption, and building the IT workforce of the future.

Qualifications

  • 6+ years experience in IT Asset Mgmt, Software License Mgmt, Software Compliance Mgmt
  • 1+ years of experience leading/managing people
  • Experience in scaling a SAM function in a global organization
  • Knowledge of on-premises and cloud-based software licensing for software vendors
  • Experience with ILMT, BigFix, SCCM, or MEM (Microsoft Endpoint Management), ServiceNow SAM Pro
  • Strong knowledge of the IT software vendor landscape, the market, and market trends
  • Basic understanding of the technology or services delivered by a software vendor
  • Understanding SAM best practices and software lifecycle processes
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future.

Preferred

  • Bachelor's degree in business, economics, finance, technology or a related field and/or 4+ additional years of directly related professional experience
  • Ability to manage across organizational boundaries, with the goal of understanding drivers and influencers
  • Experience driving measurable improvements in quality, efficiency, and costs
  • Strong relationship and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent written, verbal, and visual communication skills
  • Strong dispute resolution, and collaboration skills
  • Strong analytical and reporting skills
  • Deep passion for operational excellence
  • Ability to manage many projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Comfortable working autonomously on complex problems
  • Experience creating project plans and executing them to completion

The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. At Deloitte, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $78,000 - $161,000.

You may also be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program, subject to the rules governing the program, whereby an award, if any, depends on various factors, including, without limitation, individual and organizational performance.
