Position Summary

The Smart Maintenance and Repair Facility (SMRF) is a client demonstration and innovation facility in Wichita, KS supporting Digital Transformation business development for federal and commercial clients with Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) operations. The Experience Design Manager will be one of the key initial staff members as we stand up SMRF. This role will work closely with the SMRF Development Team and The Smart Factory by Deloitte @ Wichita team to lead the development and refinement of daily operations for the SMRF immersive experience. The Experience Design Manager will liaise with the Sales Executive and Client/Host Account teams to facilitate design of tailored content for a bespoke visit to SMRF. The Experience design process kicks-off after an Experience has been confirmed by the Scheduler and Leadership, includes the delivery of a detailed Experience workbook, and culminates in successful facilitation of the immersive experience.

Work you’ll do:

The key responsibilities include:

  • Create and manage the Industry 4.0 Experience
    • Continue previous work to develop baseline experience knowledge base. This includes working with Use Case teams that are developing technical & technological solutions, bringing their Use Case information together at level such as to enable detailed discussions and demonstrations of each Use Case when selected for a particular client experience and/or workshop.
    • Design, plan and optimize the SMRF experience, including tours, workshops, and other activities showcasing the opportunities made possible using advanced digital and physical technologies, and to conceptualize ways in which guests can take advantage of those opportunities within their own organizations.
    • Identify, select, and help deploy tools that promote a positive, memorable experience for in-person, engagement.
    • Create experiences that help set a foundation for a strong, lasting client relationships that help us get to the heart of what matters most to our clients / visitors.
    • Establish policies and procedures to maintain safety for tour participants throughout the facility, including emergency procedures / action plans and incident reporting
    • Conduct visitor-specific preparatory research, and engage with relevant stakeholders (internal and client) to gather information on the context, expectations, and goals of each visit
    • Schedule and drive the agenda for a kick-off call with the host team for the confirmed Experience
    • Manage the Experience design process, which includes a series of calls and offline correspondence with the host team to complete the Experience workbook
    • Manage the Experience workbook, which documents:
      • Experience agenda
      • Experience objectives
      • Client background, SMRF journey, and current pain points
      • Applicable SMRF use cases
      • Customized narrative talking points for the Experience delivery team and the host team
      • Relevant client technology details, with a particular focus on relevant Ecosystem technologies
      • Post-Experience workshop considerations
    • Hand-off of logistics details to the Event Planner, as-needed, including the final agenda and timing of events
    • Utilize visual documentation methods to enable co-creation and capture workshop discussion in real-time
    • Hand-off specific Experience design details to additional members of the Experience delivery team as appropriate, including facilitating a prep session with the host team
    • Facilitate interactive workshops with clients / visitors and internal stakeholders to identify opportunity areas and explore desired outcomes
    • Schedule and drive the agenda for a post-Experience debrief with the host team
    • Help position Deloitte as an informed, proactive, trusted advisor and implementor of smart maintenance and repair initiatives to push towards their business goals or desired outcomes
  • Relationships & People Development
    • Develop working relationships with clients, internal business units and support functions, vendors, and other ancillary service providers to ensure seamless delivery of the SMRF experience
    • Mentor, coach, and assist in the development of team members; meet regularly with team members to understand issues and assess workload, service challenges, and provide continuous, ongoing performance feedback and development planning
    • Serve as the face of Deloitte on the WSU campus to engage students and staff, build relationships, and create positive interactions with our academic partners
    • Collaborate with client / visitor stakeholders to organize and facilitate experience activities (e.g. internal brainstorming sessions, internal team training, thought leadership workshops, client roundtables, advisory board panels, etc.)

The Team

Deloitte has created an immersive, cutting-edge experience center at the SMRF. The innovative space will be designed for customized, interactive client experiences, and will be furnished with advanced Supply Chain, Manufacturing, and Industry 4.0 Technologies. The SMRF Experience team is dedicated to delivering excellent client experiences at every turn and ensuring delivery that leads to organizational change as we enter Industry 4.0.

Qualifications/Position Skills:

  • Bachelor’s Degree.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a US Security Clearance.
  • Ability to work onsite 100% of the time in Wichita, KS.

Preferred

  • Experience in conceptual disciplines (writing, pitching, brainstorming) and executional proficiency (including digital and video production)
  • Experience in diverse group facilitation, including groups of senior organizational leaders
  • Experience developing innovative, entertaining and engaging experiences through the creative application of cutting-edge technology
  • Excellent team player who values collaboration and communication and is skilled working virtually with remote resources.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously with demonstrable experience in consistently delivering high quality results
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; must be a diplomatic communicator and a skilled negotiator that can sell ideas/visions and influence to get top results.
  • Ability to build cross-functional relationships with all levels within Deloitte and Ecosystem representatives
  • Expert in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Understanding of the sales and proposal development process within Deloitte
  • Ability to troubleshoot in a fast-paced, technology-driven environment
  • Highly organized and detailed oriented with exceptional project management skills
  • Ability to think strategically and translate objectives and goals into actionable plans and deliverables
  • Ability to manage work load and meet hard deadlines and commitments with consistent and predictable follow-up
  • Ability to exercise sound judgement in interpreting firm policies and objectives
  • Familiarity with Smart Manufacturing technologies a plus. For the purposes of the Deloitte SMRF experience, technologies may include robotics, analytics and artificial intelligence, user interface design, additive and advanced manufacturing, augmented and virtual reality and others.
  • Familiarity with industrial maintenance, repair and overhaul processes is a plus.
  • Not afraid to get your hands dirty and jump in whenever and wherever you are needed
