Work you’ll do

The QA Automation Engineer is responsible for ensuring quality of a software product as part of the product scrum team. Responsible for developing and executing test automation scripts.

Responsibilities include working with a Deloitte internal development team. As a QA Automation Engineer, you will work as part of a product development team testing custom built software solutions. In addition to developing and executing automated test scripts, some manual test execution will also be required. This role will be expected to effectively communicate testing activities and outcomes, both written and verbally. The QA Automation Engineer will be expected to work well both independently and as a member of a team.

  • Create test case artifacts and perform test execution following standard QA methodologies to ensure the delivery of quality products
  • Create and run functional, application, regression, ad-hoc, and integration tests; including both positive and negative scenarios
  • Write and maintain test plans
  • Create and maintain automated test suites for various software products
  • Build test frameworks and methodologies that will define the testing processes used as part of the software development process
  • Raise quality issues in a timely manner for the product development cycle
  • Continually develop and execute an improving suite of test cases for each product
  • Upload test evidence in Jira
  • Log and report defects in Jira and escalate issues
  • Create test case artifacts
  • Participate in an Agile development environment / Scrum team
  • Work to meet project schedules, timelines and deadlines
  • Provide accurate estimates to assigned tasks
  • Contribute ideas to project planning

Qualifications:

Candidates will be required to take a coding assessment.

Required:

  • Competency programming in one or more of the following languages: Python, Java, JavaScript 
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in test automation using a variety of test automation tools
  • Proven experience testing web and mobile applications.
  • Proven experience testing native mobile applications (iOS and/or Android)
  • Understanding of web applications: HTML, PHP, CSS, JavaScript, AJAX, HTTP protocol, cookies/sessions, browser differences, web services
  • Excellent understanding RESTful/SOAP APIs and automation using SOAP UI or equivalent
  • Experience using automation frameworks
  • Experience with Selenium and TestNG

Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science
  • Strong knowledge of test management tools like HP ALM, Microsoft Test Manager, JIRA, etc.
  • Hands-on experience with SQL and relational databases with the ability to write complex queries and understand details of a database model required
  • Previous experience with build management tools like Maven or Ant
  • Good understanding of CI/CD processes 
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Comfortable working in a fast paced, highly collaborative, dynamic work environment
  • Proven experience in Agile / Scrum environments
  • Proven experience in interacting and coordinating test activities amongst multiple teams in multiple locations

The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. At Deloitte, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $89,000 to $163,000. 

You may also be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program, subject to the rules governing the program, whereby an award, if any, depends on various factors, including, without limitation, individual and organizational performance.
