Position Summary

The AWS Database Administrator will oversee the management and maintenance of the client’s cloud-based databases, focusing on SQL, Oracle, FlashGrid, Aurora (MySQL and PostgreSQL), and other relevant technologies. They will ensure reliable and secure data services, optimize database performance, and provide support to various applications in the cloud.

 

Work you’ll do/Responsibilities

  • Database Management and Maintenance: Implement, manage, and maintain various databases within the AWS environment, including SQL, Oracle, FlashGrid, and Aurora (MySQL and PostgreSQL). Ensure database performance, availability, and security.
  • RHEL System Administration: Perform system administration tasks on Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) servers, including setup, configuration, and maintenance.
  • Database Performance Optimization: Monitor database performance, implement changes and improvements, and provide strategic solutions that align with business requirements.
  • AWS RDS and Aurora Management: Manage AWS RDS and Aurora instances, ensuring optimal performance, security, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Backup and Disaster Recovery: Design and implement database backup, recovery, and failover strategies.
  • Application Support: Collaborate with developers and other teams to optimize application performance through database tuning. Provide technical support for the database environment.
  • Security Management: Implement and maintain database security measures in line with company policies and AWS best practices.
  • Documentation: Maintain detailed documentation of database designs, configurations, and maintenance processes.

 

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Proven experience as a Database Administrator, specifically within an AWS environment.
  • Proficiency in managing SQL, Oracle, FlashGrid, and Aurora (MySQL and PostgreSQL) databases.
  • Experience with RHEL system administration.
  • Proficiency in managing AWS RDS and Aurora instances.
  • Strong understanding of database structures, theories, principles, and practices.
  • Knowledge of database backup, recovery, performance tuning, and security.
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Must live in a commutable distance (approximately 100-mile radius) to one of the following Delivery locations: Atlanta, GA; Charlotte, NC; Dallas, TX; Gilbert, AZ; Houston, TX; Lake Mary, FL; Mechanicsburg, PA; Philadelphia, PA with the ability to commute to assigned location for the day, without the need for overnight accommodations
  • Expectation to co-locate in your designated Delivery location up to 30% of the time based on business needs. 
  • Ability to travel up to 10% based on project team requirements.
  • Must be eligible to obtain a Public Trust Clearance.
  • Limited sponsorship may be available.


Preferred Qualifications

  • AWS Certified Database Specialty.
  • Experience with other cloud database technologies.
  • Familiarity with programming or scripting languages.
