Pursuit Senior Manager - Tax

Summary

As a pursuit senior manager, you’ll use your skills and experience to manage complex pursuits, leading senior internal stakeholders and client service teams through strategic discussions to create persuasive solutions, including amid complex, sensitive, and sometimes difficult situations. You will lead the creation and development of effective client-centric pursuit communications and materials that best position Deloitte’s team and organization relevant to our clients’ expectations. You will serve as a go-to advisor in preparation for client meetings by listening, guiding, and persuading professionals across all levels. You will also guide and mentor pursuit professionals so that their work reflects quality and consistency and includes innovative approaches to best engage clients.

Experience and qualifications in the following illustrative responsibilities

  • Lead and serve as a strategic advisor on highest tier and most strategic pursuit opportunities from pre-RFP strategy through post-orals interactions with clients, working closely with firm leaders to drive decision-making and shape pursuit strategy, messaging, and vision through innovative approaches and engaging deliverables.
  • Provide strategic guidance and coaching to client service professionals to elevate buyer experiences in meetings and oral presentations throughout the pursuit lifecycle, including in-person, virtual, and hybrid interactions; apply targeting/sales principles to identify win themes, create compelling messages, brainstorm solutions to challenges, and articulate client benefits.
  • Bring innovative approaches and tools to pursuit materials and presentations to highlight client-centric messaging, enhance the overall buyer experience, and influence a preference for Deloitte.
  • Manage the pursuit process, from orchestrating development of deliverables to coordinating our teams’ pursuit activities; manage team members (of various specialties and at various levels of seniority) to develop responses that meet the needs of potential clients.
  • Demonstrate the ability to bring creativity and innovation to the framing and structuring of proposal and other deliverables; write persuasively, including executive summaries and other critical components of deliverables, interpreting information from research profiles, meetings with proposal team members, client meetings, and understanding of the business and Deloitte’s offerings.
  • Serve as an orals coach, facilitating orals strategy sessions; creating outlines for story development; assisting with orals planning and coaching; developing and communicating rehearsal schedules and logistics; preparing teams for orals delivery and Q&A sessions; and facilitating the orals debrief sessions and post-orals strategy.
  • Participate in win/loss debrief meetings to gain benefits from lessons learned and assist in adopting resulting best practices.
  • Conceptualize and develop innovative pursuit practices, messaging, and organizational components, as well as drive the execution of these initiatives.
  • Contribute to developing Deloitte’s pursuit team including collaborating and coaching other pursuit team members, refining and improving pursuit strategies, and acting as a project-by-project liaison between our team and the broader firm.
  • Serve as a career coach, managing other pursuit professionals, helping to hire, guide, and grow professionals along their career path, as well as developing and facilitating innovative training opportunities.
  • Lead national pursuit initiatives, such as centers of excellence designed to improve the pursuit process.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in communications, business/marketing, humanities, or related disciplines, with advanced degree preferred
  • 10+ years of relevant experience in business-to-business communications and/or strategic marketing communications directed to Fortune 500 organizations; experience in a professional services environment preferred
  • 6-8+ years of direct, relevant pursuit or sales experience, overseeing large, global pursuits; pursuit experience in a Big 4 or professional services environment a plus
  • Advanced/mastery level of skills and specialties that offer high strategic value to top priority pursuits
  • Experience leading teams in strategic discussions
  • Experience with project management for complex, multi-dimensional projects
  • Diversity of experience in large corporate organizations and small business concerns
  • Experience in public speaking and executive presentation training/coaching and/or delivery
  • Excellent relevant writing samples
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Teams, and SharePoint
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future.

The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. At Deloitte, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $115030 to $211850.

You may also be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program, subject to the rules governing the program, whereby an award, if any, depends on various factors, including, without limitation, individual and organizational performance.
