Position Summary

Work you’ll do:

  • Collaborate with Federal, State & Local Government clients to standardize annual budgeting processes, reduce costs, improve service delivery and operations, and enhance organizational effectiveness.
  • Lead and manage large State & Local government budgeting engagements across multiple clients.
  • Support new business models and capabilities, and the identification of opportunities to transform the finance organization leveraging digital technologies.
  • Advise on improving finance business partnering & process transformation. 
  • Advise and implement FP&A, advanced finance analytics, enterprise performance management, costing & profitability, and advanced statistical forecasting through associated technologies and asset-based solutions.
  • Develop strategic or innovative external eminence that creates sales opportunity in public sector.
  • Advise and implement strategic choices to help improve the finance function for Government & Public sector organizations by means of Digital Finance Transformation. 
  • Actively expand consulting skills and professional development through training courses, mentoring, and daily interaction with clients. 
  • Mentor, and lead the development of, consulting practitioners across GPS Consulting and within State & Local practice

The Finance & Enterprise Performance (F&EP) teams advise, implement, and deliver as-a-service solutions to help clients develop strategies and capabilities that support enterprise-wide decision-making, develop operating models to optimize organizational performance, improve finance operations, and create impact within their organizations.

 

Qualifications 

Required:

  • 5+ years of experience working in State & Local government budgeting directly or supporting from a consulting perspective.
  • 10+ years of Oracle EPM Cloud implementation experience. 
  • Proven track record of full end-to-end implementation in public sector organizations including State & Local governments. 
  • Previous consulting experience on government centric strategic initiatives to optimize performance, improve efficiency, enhance public funds accountability, and strengthen automated financial management policies and systems.
  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future.
  • Ability to travel up to 25%, on average, based on the work you do and the clients and industries/sectors you service. 
Preferred:
  • Experience across all core business operations from Budget Formulation and Execution to Finance and Accounting to Information Technology and HR and grants management.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment
  • Masters of Business Administration (MBA) degree
  • Proven experience effectively prioritizing workload to meet deadlines and work objectives
  • Demonstrated ability to write clearly, succinctly, and in a manner that appeals to a wide audience
  • Proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation creation tools, as well as Internet research tools
  • Demonstrated understanding of the way tech (e.g., RPA, AI, ServiceNow, etc.) can support improved service delivery
