Work you’ll do

As a Manager on the Professional & Regulatory Matters team, you’ll use your analytical, research and investigative skills by:

  • Analyzing and researching complex industry-specific regulations and standards to gain an understanding of the potential impacts to the businesses;
  • Drafting policy documents by assimilating various regulations and standards into concise policies and communications for firm practitioners to follow and understand;
  • Reviewing drafts of policy documents and providing feedback on such drafts to partners and others in firm leadership roles;
  • Monitoring the activities of regulators and standard setters from pre-exposure draft stages to final rule issuance to identify updates to regulations and standards, understanding impacts of new rules on existing rule sets, and summarizing those impacts, both orally and in writing;
  • Summarizing and clearly articulating changes to policy to firm practitioners;
  • Leading policy projects by overseeing the large inventory of potential policy changes and managing policy-related projects;
  • Managing multiple projects of varying complexity simultaneously;
  • Communicating, both orally and in writing, key project milestones;
  • Working both independently and in a team environment, which currently virtual
  • Establishing, developing, and maintaining working relationships with leadership team and partners, locally and globally;
  • Proactively demonstrating thought leadership and strategic direction in independence policy development and implementation;
  • Analyzing, interpreting, applying, and effectively communicating the requirements and impact of newly issued regulations/professional standards;
  • Participating in the development and/or review of firm training, presentations, and other learning materials;
  • Participating in the coordination of the group's interactions and responses to internal and external reviews and/or inspections e.g. by the PCAOB, peer reviews, internal audits; and,
  • Participating on special projects as needed.

Independence & Conflicts Network

The Independence & Conflicts Network (ICN) performs a critical consultative, quality-assurance and risk-management function for the Deloitte US Firms, helping the organization remain unbiased and free from conflicts-of-interest, in fact and appearance, when providing service to attest/audit clients. Independence requirements are defined by specific sets of policies, external rules and regulations, so maintaining both the independence of the Deloitte US Firms and personal independence is essential to the business and reputation of Deloitte.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelors’ degree (preferably accounting, business, or finance)
  • 5+ years of relevant experience
  • Strong oral and written communications
  • Outstanding attention to detail along with strong technical, organizational, and analytical skills
  • Strong project management skills
  • Limited immigration sponsorship may be available

 

Preferred:

  • Demonstrates extensive knowledge and/or proven success working with professional and regulatory requirements affecting audits of financial statements, and in particular, the independence rules established by the SEC, AICPA, PCAOB, IESBA, and other relevant regulators and standard-setters, preferably in a global network of professional services firms.
  • U.S. Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
  • Experience with accounting and/or Independence pronouncements, standards, and rules
  • Policy writing and editing experience in either Accounting or Independence
  • Knowledge of IFRS and US GAAP standards
  • An understanding of Independence requirements for professional auditing firms
  • Public accounting or consulting experience
