Work you’ll do

You will lead sales and delivery of multiple next generation Advanced Meter Infrastructure (AMI) strategy and discovery projects for utility clients, guiding senior client executives and supporting client teams on decision-making around critical next generation AMI strategy and operational choices that will yield rate case approval and the utility’s business case needs.

Role Description:
  • Demonstrate capability to advise executive clients on the next generation AMI solution and its impact on the corporate strategy, customer experience, grid reliability, and regulatory areas (including business and general rate cases, strategic direction, maturity of vendors, etc.)
  • Bring deep utility industry insights and trends, and proven approaches (e.g. market research) to help clients confirm priorities and develop a go-forward strategy to drive value into the business, the customer experience, and the grid.
  • Develop insight-based hypotheses for the future vision, and influence the strategy, vision, and prioritization of capabilities under ambiguous conditions and multiple uncertainties.
  • Lead teams of strategy and operations transformation practitioners, conducting market research, benchmarking, technology roadmap, business case and general rate case work.
  • Lead project delivery including project management, client relationships and deliverable quality.
  • Showcase domain expertise by writing point of view papers.

Power, Utilities & Renewables

The Power, Utilities, & Renewables sector is undergoing significant regulatory changes while shifts in outage management are causing many industry leaders to rethink their governance models. Customer expectations for digital connectivity and ease of access are driving business process redesign around the customer experience. Connectivity to the grid is key, and companies are adopting new strategies for asset maintenance and more efficient methods of energy generation and distribution. Deloitte provides a large majority of the Fortune 500 P&U companies with Consulting services now, but moving forward, we have launched a growth strategy to at least double our revenue over the next 3-5 years. By working with Deloitte’s Offering Portfolios to update our mix of services to our clients (digital technologies, SAP HANA, Cloud, Grid and Operations technologies), we are committed to helping our clients work with newly empowered customers, hyper-connected digital ecosystems, and expansion in data.


Operations Transformation
 
Our Operations Transformation team focuses on transforming our clients’ core business operations. We advise, design, implement, and deploy solutions focused on “heart of the business” issues in specific sectors including Health Care, Banking & Securities, Insurance, and Energy & Resources. The type of work we provide to our clients includes Operations Excellence, Payment & Care Model Innovation and Emerging Business Models. 

Our clients seek a fresh perspective on how to create a flexible, innovative business model supported by a strong operations foundation. Professionals will use their deep sector knowledge and technical business operations consulting experience to take a more strategic view of our clients’ priorities, helping them to prepare for growth, embrace the digital agenda and maximize operational efficiency.
   

Qualifications

Required:

  • 8+ years of experience within the Utilities sector (business, regulatory)
  • Utility capabilities knowledge
  • Advance Meter Infrastructure functional knowledge (meters, network, customer programs)
  • GridEdge (Edge Computing) knowledge
  • Distributed Energy Resources (DER) knowledge
  • Expertise within business case development, capability-drive transformation, operating model transformation, strategic planning, scenario planning, market research, strategy and visioning
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Ability to travel up to 50%
Preferred:
  • Ability to plan and execute a project to deliver a superior client experience
  • Ability to comprehend how the client’s business works, how the regulator works, and keep up-to-date on industry/sector trends and leading practices
  • Ability to identify and solve problems objectively using analysis, experience and judgment
  • Ability to incorporate financial information when evaluating business opportunities and making recommendations
  • Ability to develop relationships, establish credibility with and instill confidence in clients
  • Ability to leverage cross-geography insights and practitioners to enhance client service delivery
  • Ability to articulate how technology enables and differentiates the business and communicate this effectively to clients.
The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. At Deloitte, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $186,000 to $302,000.
