Power, Utilities & Renewables – Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Testing Manager

Work You’ll Do

Our practitioners work collaboratively within integrated, cross-functional teams to deliver comprehensive strategies and implementation program that help our clients prepare for growth, embrace the digital agenda and maximize operational efficiency. Teamwork is crucial as teams are composed of a diverse group of specialists across multiple disciplines from both within our consulting practice and from our clients, helping drive towards a successful outcome. Our practitioners are expected to own and deliver their respective deliverables while managing different clients and other stakeholders. 

Role and Responsibilities

  • Define test strategy/plan for all test phases and cycles
  • Advanced knowledge of Requirement Management/Coordination with business, with the ability to coordinate/track multiple team’s delivery schedules
  • Lead development of test scenarios and test cases with test team
  • Lead development of test status reporting, metrics and testing schedule
  • Assist in development of and execution of test cases – act as SME
  • Proactively provide input to project leads and client stakeholders regarding testing status, schedule, and risks / issues
  • Help define and setup defect management process for the program
  • Ability to understand and learn advanced technology applications/methodology quickly, then communicate that information in an educational manner to team members
  • Advanced knowledge of Test/Defect Management solution like Microfocus ALM, ADO, JIRA, Azure DevOps, etc. with the ability to create queries/reports, maintain Reporting Dashboards, etc.
  • Support the development of training material, as required

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a directly related field
  • 5+ years’ experience in testing engagements for GIS implementations
  • 3+ years’ experience working with Electric and Gas utilities
  • 3+ years of experience leading testing for GIS products - Esri’s ArcGIS, Schneider Electric’s ArcFM, or GE Smallworld
  • Experience leading testing for GIS-related business processes and workflows
  • Experience with software development lifecycle methodologies (e.g., Waterfall, Agile, etc.), especially in the Design/Build, Test, and Deployment phases
  • Strong verbal, written, interpersonal, troubleshooting, and analytical skills
  • Ability to lead and assign tasks, potentially across multiple projects and initiative
  • Travel up to 50%, dependent upon client/project needs

Preferred:

  • Advanced degree in Geographic Information Systems, Remote Sensing, Cartography, Geography, Business Intelligence or related field
  • 8 years Power & Utilities experience
  • Excellent written & oral communication, research, and analytic skills
  • Ability to manage assigned tasks and coordination of projects
  • Ability to research, create, develop, and deliver professional briefings, multimedia presentations, and written reports
  • Experience supporting decision making and special projects on integration issues, including the preparation, production, and coordination of written products and briefings for senior stakeholders
  • Experience with tradecraft and publication and ability to coordinate and support cross-community meetings and working groups, assimilate large volumes of information, and independently produce written reports
