Deloitte’s Policy and Government Relations (PGR) group is currently looking to add a Manager to its public policy team. The role will be based out of the Washington, DC office, and the Manager will be expected to be in the office 1-2 days per week with the rest of the team.
Role Description:
- Conduct research, provide analysis, and prepare issue briefs explaining the political, societal, legislative, and other dynamics of a range of policy issues
- Manage a portfolio of public policy issues and track and report on policy trends and updates, providing recommendations to help Firm leadership consider positioning and associated risks, potential benefits, and other impacts
- Monitor, read, and analyze legislation and regulations that could impact the Firm, with a focus on financial services issues and other topics (portfolio will not be limited to financial services)
- Create policy-related products and presentations for both internal and external clients
- Provide project management support to the Public Policy leader on federal and state public policy priorities, including developing timelines and reporting
- Develop briefing materials for leadership, including in Microsoft PowerPoint and Word
Requirements include:
Required:
- 5-8+ years of professional experience in the public policy or political fields
- A keen understanding of the legislative, regulatory, and policymaking process
- Excellent writing skills, including the ability to effectively synthesize and translate complex material in a simple, concise, and easy-to-understand way
- Strong project management skills
- Exceptional attention to detail
- Proven ability to self-direct work

- Ability to develop and maintain professional relationships with senior-level and peer-level practitioners
- Professional demeanor and presence

Preferred:
- Experience working on Capitol Hill or in the government affairs or advocacy community
- Experience working on financial services or economic policy issues
- Strong PowerPoint skills
Policy and Government Relations Group’s Core Functions:
- Work with leadership to set the Firm's policy agenda, including policy priorities and positions
- Promote and protect the Firm's business interests in Washington and states by actively engaging key policy makers and influential policy stakeholders
- Conduct analysis of trending policy issues in the external environment and anticipate potential impact on the Firm
- Build and maintain relationships with members of Congress, state lawmakers, administration officials, and key policy influencers (e.g., think tanks, industry associations) in support of the Firm's policy and legislative priorities
