Position Summary

Manager, Solution Architect – DAS Tax

Preferred Locations: Dallas, TX and Hermitage, TN

We are looking for a passionate, innovative, results-oriented technology leader with heart-deep commitment to success to be a part of our Solutions Delivery team. Responsible for overseeing the portfolio of solutions within a delivery channel with focus on integration. Responsible for producing solution design and documentation for complex enterprise applications with expert attention to all architectural qualities in mind for various line-of-business applications. Regularly supervises the day-to-day activities of a group of employees. Responsible for assigning work, meeting completion dates, interpreting and ensuring application of policies and procedures. Maintain consistency within the Architecture Principals.

What You Will Do:

You will serve as a SPOC for all solutions from an applications standpoint. You will leverage your knowledge on solution architecture to deliver as per stakeholder needs.

Delivery/ Operations/ Architecture

  • Providing technical and architectural leadership for modern enterprise applications.
  • Defining Infrastructure and capacity planning for enterprise mobility platforms.
  • Creating project and application architecture deliverables that are consistent with architecture principles, standards, methodologies, and best practices.
  • Responsible for Designing/Architecting the solutions for the assigned projects
  • Leading technical design sessions with application architects and the development teams, including the creation of class models, sequence diagrams, component models, etc., and detailed design specifications to ensuring that architecture standards are followed.
  • Responsible for defining technical evaluation criteria for product and technology selection and determining technical approaches to ensure all architectural solutions result in a coherent systems design.
  • Providing expert knowledge of mobile application architecture to business and technology teams and facilitate the collaborative development of the technology strategy, technology standards, roadmaps, and practices.
  • Providing support / guidance to the development teams during the analysis, development, and testing processes., applied research and development, prototyping, and vendor evaluations
  • Improving processes to ensure alignment between the business strategies and application technology roadmap.
  • Reviewing and approving 3rd party and integration solution architecture based on established enterprise application strategy.
  • Communicating implications of architectural decisions, issues and plans to business and IT Leadership.
  • Defining and validating non-functional (technical) requirements and establishing traceability between requirements and application architecture/design.
  • Participating, and technically leading when needed, production troubleshooting and 'War Room' Activities.
  • Seeking and capitalizing on the opportunities to improve productivity, improving time-to-market, improving solutions quality, and improving cost effectiveness.
  • Anticipating barriers to change and creating opportunities to remove them.
  • Design state-of-the-art technical solutions on AWS that address customers' requirements for scalability, reliability, security, and performance and leverage existing investments in AWS platforms.

People Development

  • Lead/Oversee development and implementation of all training programs.
  • Career planning and management for their team members
  • Recruit and mentor team members on the subject matter/professional services/ research methods etc.
  • Instilling a culture of execution, operational excellence, and accountability.
  • Manage and mentoring application architects
  • Creating a culture that is based on knowledge sharing and learning from best practices

Relationship Management/ Advisory

  • Advising and consulting Deloitte Application Studio leadership on technology costs, benefits, and implementation requirements.
  • Working with business clients and product owners to review business drivers, needs, and strategies to anticipate future business / technology needs
  • Working closely with Performance Engineering and our Web/Infrastructure Technology teams on defining the deployment architecture.
  • Providing input to the development of project initiation documents including objectives, scope, approach, estimates, and deliverables, when needed.
  • Staying abreast of changes in vendor landscape, and providing guidance around Deloitte Application Studio’s long term vendor strategy towards mobile application development
  • Exhibiting high level of professional flexibility and volunteering innovation and new ideas

Deloitte Application Studios (DAS) is the internal software and applications development team responsible for delivering leading-edge technologies to Deloitte professionals. Their broad portfolio includes web and mobile productivity tools that empower our people to log expenses, enter timesheets, book travel and more, anywhere, anytime. DAS enables our client service professionals through a comprehensive suite of applications across the business lines. In addition to application delivery, DAS offers full-scale design services, a robust mobile portfolio, cutting-edge analytics, and innovative custom development.

Qualifications:

Required Skills:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Business Administration, or related discipline. While an advanced degree is preferred, the value is placed on the extent of the relevant experience and accomplishments
  • 10+ years Industry experience, in architecture and delivery of software products and solutions using general programming technologies (.net, C#, ASP.net, JavaScript).
  • 3+ years of experience designing and implementing off-prem public cloud (AWS) environments and architectures and operational models. Including developing cloud-ready solutions, like active-active and geo/regional resiliency with near zero RPO & RTO.
  • 3+ years of experience with IaaS, 2+ Years with PaaS and experience with SaaS offerings
  • 2+ years of experience with Public Cloud migrations
  • In-depth architectural understanding of AWS and expertise with cloud native design patterns and DevOps principles (Infrastructure as Code).
  • Strong knowledge of Cloud Infrastructure, preferably designing and implementing off-prem cloud (AWS) or on-prem/private cloud virtualized architectures and solutions, including active-active and geo/regional resiliency with near zero RPO & RTO
  • Strong experience in Relational and NoSQL databases (Aurora/ DynamoDB / SQL Server)
  • Strong experience developing with .Net framework.
  • Strong experience in Angular/Angular JS, React JS and Node JS.
  • Container experience with Docker and Kubernetes or other container orchestration platforms
  • Experience with architecting large microservices based solutions.
  • Experience with data modeling and normalization concepts.
  • Experience with data visualizations tools like SSRS, PowerBI & Tableau. 
  • Experience architecting and building data marts, warehouses, etc.
  • Experience working with different query languages (i.e. PL-SQL, T-SQL).
  • Experience working with code repositories and continuous integration (i.e. Git, Jenkins, etc.)
  • Understanding of development and project methodologies.
  • Strong experience in leading architecture activities like designing, roadmap, & proof-of-concepts.
  • Ability to manage multiple customers, complex projects, and multiple initiatives
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills, ability to handle diverse situations, multiple initiatives and rapidly changing priorities.
  • Ability to travel 1-10%, on average, based on the work you do and the clients and industries/sectors you serve

The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. At Deloitte, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the range is $104,575 to $192,590.
