What you’ll do
As a Tax Manager, you will work in a national team and liaison with local office professionals across the country, draw on experience in accounting and taxation to provide tax consulting services to multinational clients on the tax implications of their international operations, and identify complex tax issues and provide tax analysis and recommendations for these entities and their affiliates. Additional responsibilities will include:
- Assisting clients with their implementation of specific international tax structures and processes.
- Overseeing complex tax computation projects for clients in diverse industries.
- Researching and preparing materials for consulting projects related to tax planning considerations.
- Facilitating brainstorming sessions (internal and with clients), including with non-tax stakeholders (e.g., treasury, accounting, legal)
- Providing leadership, counseling, and career guidance for the development and motivation of the engagement team.
- Supervising and supporting the technical development of tax consultants and senior consultants.
The Team
The Global Strategies Group is a national specialty group within Deloitte’s international tax practice. GSG professionals develop and implement global tax strategies for large multinational corporations that provide long-term sustainable ETR reduction and help mobilize global cash. In general, GSG conducts International Strategic Tax Reviews, manages international restructuring transactions and other more narrowly targeted projects such as foreign tax credit optimization, repatriation planning, treasury planning, disposition planning, and international mergers and acquisition planning. Additionally, GSG assists companies in aligning value drivers with income streams in a manner that reduces ETR and mobilize cash.
Qualifications Required:
- 5+ years’ experience providing tax planning services or preparing and reviewing client work, preferably with a focus on international taxation
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or other business-related field
- One of the following accreditations obtained:
- Licensed CPA in state of practice/primary office if eligible to sit for the CPA
- If not CPA eligible:
- Licensed attorney
- Enrolled Agent
- Other - foreign equivalent of the above and various tax technology accreditations may be acceptable based on business review and approval
- Experience managing senior-level client relationships
- Experience participating in strategic planning initiatives
- Big 4, public accounting or consulting experience
- Previous Big 4 experience, public accounting or consulting experience
- Ability to travel 80-100%, on average, based on the work you do and the clients and industries/sectors you serve
Preferred:
- Strong research and verbal and written communication skills
- Experience working in a fast-paced, team environment
- Strong executive presence

This compensation range is specific to New York City and takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. At Deloitte, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $111,090 to $235,170.
You may also be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program, subject to the rules governing the program, whereby an award, if any, depends on various factors, including, without limitation, individual and organizational performance.
