Position Summary

Manager, Benefits – Health & Welfare

Work you’ll do

In this role, you will be responsible for managing, enabling and executing the Deloitte LP health & welfare plans. As a Manager, you will lead and provide support for the operation of health and welfare plans including, but not limited to:

  • Executing and reinforcing overall strategies, including continued migration to lower cost programs
  • Managing to the identified firm cost models and overall improvement of experience (e.g., benefit personalization)
  • Monitoring medical and pharmacy trends and escalating any concerns associated with trends
  • Leading open enrollment management, including the development of recommendations
  • Managing regulatory filings and disclosure requirements

You will regularly interface and provide guidance to multiple carriers, external vendors, internal support center,  our professionals, and key stakeholders (e.g., finance, OGC, ITS), and will be responsible for managing participant escalations and providing subject matter expertise around complex projects and process improvements. 

Key responsibilities:

  • Manage the implementation of new plans, programs, and changes to plans and/or administrative procedures. Sign off on documentation of process and technology change needs. Participate and approve business and technical specifications.
  • Oversee the socialization and review process for plan design changes based on organizational mission and guiding principles, claims and industry experience, stakeholder feedback, and knowledge of best-practices.
  • Recommend program design changes in response to regulatory and plan updates, marketplace analysis, prevailing practices amongst similar organizations, and internal policy reviews.
  • Drive and manage special and recurring projects regarding the assigned benefit programs and technology tools, including Conduent, utilizing direct reports, as needed.
  • Lead team members as they resolve complex inquiries and provide escalation support to leadership, partners, principals, managing directors, retirees and employees regarding provisions of existing/new benefits, policies and processes, as needed
  • Manage compliance with provisions of Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA) while handling second level escalations. Assess and identify unique cases to escalate to Management, OGC, or External Council for review. Manage preparation of reports and filings required by federal and state agencies such as the Internal Revenue Service, Department of Labor, insurance commissioners and other regulatory agencies.  Review presentations and recommendations for management consideration around plan design, management requests, acquisition activities and ongoing improvements in technology and process.
  • Direct, with legal and appropriate leadership consultation, preparation of benefit documentation such as original and amended Summary Plan Description or similar document texts and DeloitteNet content.
  • Provide benefits support for acquisitions.
  • Review presentations/recommendations for leadership consideration around plan design, business requests, acquisition activities based on ongoing analysis of escalated cases and improvements in technology and process. Manage feedback process in an effective and timely manner. Conduct  and lead presentations to professionals and key stakeholders for training and education purposes.
  • Direct and oversee the development and performance of team members.

Qualifications
Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 7 years of related experience
  • Advanced knowledge in pertinent federal and state regulations, filing and compliance requirements both adopted and pending affecting employee benefit programs, including ERISA, COBRA, FMLA, ADA, SECTION 125, Medicare, OBRA, and Social Security and DOL requirements
  • Experience leading and managing others in a virtual team environment
  • Experience handling  confidential and sensitive information
  • Experience managing multiple projects against competing deadlines
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office (i.e., PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Teams)
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future
  • Ability to travel 20%, on average, based on the work you do and the clients and industries/sectors you serve

For individuals assigned and/or hired to work in Colorado and Nevada, Deloitte is required by law to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs.  The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled.  At Deloitte, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.  A reasonable estimate of the current range is $95,070-175,080.

You may also be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program, subject to the rules governing the program, whereby an award, if any, depends on various factors, including, without limitation, individual and organizational performance.
