M&A Tax Project Manager

Position Reports to: M&A Tax Service Line Leader

Position Summary:

The Project Manager (PM) plays an integral role in supporting the success of the M&A practice by providing a variety of strategic project and operational services to the M&A Tax team. The role supports a wide range of M&A initiatives from marketplace to talent to operations to innovation. The PM will work with many members of the M&A leadership team, as well as members of the cross-functional MARS platform.

The PM will coordinate, execute, and deliver work products on behalf of the team. The PM will provide excellent customer service, possess a high degree of self-confidence and executive presence, exercise discretion and diplomacy in all interactions, have the ability to proactively anticipate and manage challenges, be a self-starter with strong abilities to manage multiple responsibilities, work efficiently, and remain flexible to changes in schedule and work hours (including flexibility to work overtime as required). 

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Support client pursuit initiatives, including go-to-market strategies, industry initiatives, target identification and tracking, including Mercury, and pursuit materials
  • Support practice eminence activities, including client conferences, thoughtware, and other internal and external facing materials and activities
  • Assist with quarterly All-Hands and PPMD meetings, including agenda curation, material development and integration, and meeting management and follow-up messaging
  • Establish and maintain executive-level relationships with key leaders across the MARS platform to align on initiatives, teaming, and communications
  • Own and navigate practice mailboxes, calendars, Sharepoint sites, and distribution lists to ensure communications / updates are being shared effectively
  • Collaborate with Innovation and Knowledge Management leaders to drive strategic initiatives
  • Support M&A leaders, in collaboration with Talent managers, in driving Talent initiatives, including onboarding, learning and development, deployment, pipeline process, performance management, and community building, among other efforts
  • Lead the preparation of meeting agendas and materials for various leadership meetings and presentations
  • Assist with compiling reports/gathering data for executive projects
  • Initiate communication and implement action plan for new projects, escalate key decision needs and actions
  • Support Operations initiatives, including periodic forecasting and finance analytics
  • Serve as point of contact for leaders in responding to requests and navigating practitioners to the appropriate point of contact or resources
  • Create / manage an M&A Tax calendar for both leadership and wider practice use
  • Develop practice communications
  • Spearhead the coordination of virtual and live meetings and events by handling logistics including securing meeting space, collaborating with team on agenda and content, offsite support, etc.
  • Build positive and productive relationships across the practice
  • Manage sensitive and confidential information appropriately and with a high level of discretion

To be considered for this role, a candidate must have the following:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Experience that demonstrates business acumen, strong communication, organizational skills, and the ability to work in a team environment
  • Superior technical skills, including the ability to learn and master a variety of internal custom business applications. Advanced skills in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with knowledge of proper grammar, punctuation, and spelling
