Work you’ll do
Position Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled Linux Systems Engineer with networking experience to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Linux system administration and a solid understanding of networking concepts and technologies. This role involves managing and maintaining our Linux-based infrastructure, ensuring optimal performance, security, and reliability.
Key Responsibilities:
- This role is onsite in Norfolk, VA.
- Manage and maintain Linux servers, ensuring high availability and performance.
- Perform system monitoring, troubleshooting, and performance tuning.
- Implement and manage security measures to protect systems and data.
- Configure and manage network services such as DNS, DHCP, NTP, and VPN.
- Collaborate with the networking team to ensure seamless integration of network and system components.
- Automate repetitive tasks using scripting languages (e.g., Bash, Python).
- Manage and maintain configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible, Puppet, Chef).
- Perform regular system backups and recovery procedures.
- Monitor system logs and respond to incidents and alerts.
- Document system configurations, procedures, and changes.
Ideal Candidate:
- Proven experience as a Linux Systems Engineer or similar role.
- Strong knowledge of Linux operating systems (e.g., Red Hat, CentOS, Ubuntu).
- Experience with network protocols and services (e.g., TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, NTP, VPN).
- Familiarity with network devices and concepts (e.g., routers, switches, firewalls).
- Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Bash, Python).
- Experience with configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible, Puppet, Chef).
- Solid understanding of system security and best practices.
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor's Degree
- 5 years of systems or networking administration/engineering experience
- Active Secret clearance
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future
- Travel up to 10%
- Must be able to work onsite in Norfolk, VA.
- Sec+ certification or equivalent certification
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
- Knowledge of containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
- Familiarity with monitoring tools (e.g., Nagios, Zabbix, Prometheus).
- Relevant certifications (e.g., RHCE, CompTIA Linux+, CCNA
