The DCHS Team

The Deloitte Center for Health Solutions (DCHS), develops and publishes insightful content to support Deloitte’s Life Sciences & Health Care Practice (LSHC). DCHS aims to be the preeminent source of actionable insights for key LSHC stakeholders. Content created by DCHS is published and deployed externally as research deliverables and blogs, and through internal communications to our practitioners. DCHS was formed in 2005 and continues to evolve the research agenda to meet the needs of Deloitte’s client service professionals and our clients and lead the discussion on critical industry issues.

DCHS is part of Research and Insights of the Internal Services team. DCHS fuel’s Deloitte’s ability to achieve its goals by conducting and publishing external facing research content for broad market audiences.

DESCRIPTION OF ROLE

We are seeking a full-time Life Sciences Research and Insights Senior Manager to support the research, analysis, and writing of thought leadership. The Life Sciences Research Senior Manager will serve as a key advisor on issues pertaining to the life sciences sector, which includes biopharmaceutical and medical technology (medtech) companies. 

The individual will work closely with internal life sciences and other practice leaders. 

The research team at the Deloitte Center for Health Solutions works to provide insights to key LSHC decision makers and the LSHC practice, industry leaders, media as well as other relevant Deloitte professionals. As a key member of the Center’s research team, the Life Sciences Research and Insights Senior Manager will:

  • Help DCHS and DHEI identify research and thought leadership priorities aligned with LSHC practice
  • Contribute to the advancement and quality of DCHS’s research/thought leadership outputs, including short and long manuscripts, journal articles, charticles, infographics, client presentations, case studies
  • Use wide range of primary and secondary sources to inform these outputs, including qualitative and quantitative analyses as inputs.
  • Develop and use novel approaches to deploy content produced from DCHS research
  • Develop research questions and thought leadership topics that are aligned with practice and market needs and are compelling and provocative and catalyze conversations with executives/buyers
  • Identify opportunities to use a broad range of data sets, including public and non-traditional data
  • Communicate and clarify implications from our research and insights for Deloitte clients, client teams, and industry leadership
  • Develop working relationship with Deloitte’s network of LSHC practitioners, including Life Sciences sector leaders, to understand the practice’s strategic priorities in these areas, with specific focus on life sciences sector leadership
  • Ideate new research topics and approaches, including with life sciences sector leadership, by identifying trends and specific areas that warrant further research development in alignment with the practice’s strategic priorities or educational activities for practitioners.
  • This individual will need to bring for ideas for research and eminence to practice leaders and collaborate with those leaders in evaluating and refining ideas brought forward
  • Convene clients, practitioners, and other key stakeholders
  • Collaborate with our policy and regulatory team to identify key issues that impact the business and consider implications for research and insights.
  • Present research and thought leadership at senior leadership meetings, conferences, webinars, and client meetings
  • Collaborate with LSHC marketing, including life sciences marketing, to increase reach, relevance, resonance, and impact of DCHS life sciences research and insights
  • Oversee and develop teammates in their capabilities of research, analysis, deployment, and presentation

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education, Research, and Subject Matter Expertise

  • Bachelors Degree
  • 8-10 years of relevant professional experience in the biopharmaceutical and/or medical device sectors
  • In depth knowledge of the life sciences sector, with particular focus on biopharma and/or medtech areas
  • Strong understanding of life sciences strategy and operations: R&D/ clinical trials, commercialization, reimbursement/market access, manufacturing, and/or supply chain
  • Understanding of the industry key players, the value chain, organizational structure, and pain points across a typical organization.
  • Experience conducting primary research, survey design, focus groups, and/or structured qualitative interviews
  • Strong writing and editorial skills with an ability to translate research to client perspectives and concerns through compelling narrative
  • Ability to work with external partners and internal teams to craft effective and concise insights that relate to clients
  • Familiarity with key industry data sources and analytical models/scenarios
  • Managing experience
  • Presentation experience to executive audiences

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Advanced degree (e.g., Master’s or Ph.D.) in policy, outcomes research, immunology, pharmacology, biology, pharmcoeconomics, health services research, business, pharmacy, or related fields
  • Previous position in market research/intelligence academia, policy, or translation of analytics to the business
  • Previous experience in management consulting a plus
  • Familiarity with activating social networks and using social media channels for reach and impact
  • Exposure to and training in analytical methods, including: statistical methods, interpretation of statistical results; statistical software/visualization tools such as SPSS©,STATA, R, or Tableau; experience with advanced analytical techniques such as predictive analytics, machine learning, AI or human-centered design a plus
  • Understanding of marketing tactics and content strategies to engage audiences, working in close collaboration with marketing, publishing, and PR teams
  • Exposure to contributing in public forums as well as with the media 
  • Experience working with c-suite and executive leaders in the life sciences sector, entrepreneurs, and innovation ecosystems
  • Creative mindset around how to present insights and findings in unique, narrative, and visually appealing ways

This compensation range is specific to the State of Colorado and the State of Nevada and takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. At Deloitte, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $115,030 - $211,850
