Work you’ll do 

  • Work on international energy projects with our government and public sector clients
  • Provide best practice insights on energy sector priorities and trends, leading approaches to solving energy challenges, and insights from experience working with industry on matters related to decarbonization, critical minerals, hydrocarbon management, power sector reform, renewable energy, and the energy technology supply chain.
  • Advise Deloitte teams on your specific Power Sector area of expertise and work with these core teams to provide that advisory directly to clients
  • Work independently and manage multiple task assignments

Qualifications 

Required: 

  • Bachelor's degree in Energy Policy, Electrical Engineering, Business, Energy Economics, or related discipline
  • 15 years of professional experience working on energy sector issues within the electricity sector, with demonstrated experience working with power utilities, regulators/ public utility commissions, system operators, transmission companies, renewable energy developers, among other sector entities
  • Experience managing and providing technical expertise to multi-disciplinary teams in domestic and international capacities and working across different geographies
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain the required security clearance for this role 

Preferred

  • Master’s degree
  • Experience advising and working with government entities, international organizations, and/or multilateral donors on technical areas, specifically related to power sector, electricity markets, and utility reform topics 
  • Experience working with private companies in the power sector (e.g., vendors, utility companies, system operators, grid technology companies) and familiarity with recent technology and decarbonization market trends and the impact of climate policy
  • Experience working in international (non-US) jurisdictions with national governments and mining ministries
  • Experience prioritizing tasks and managing assignments in a collaborative, geographically dispersed team environment
  • Skilled in technical writing, including the ability to draft and develop technical subject matter reports for high level audiences
  • Skilled in written communication and documentation, including spreadsheet & presentation software (MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, etc.), attention to detail.

Specific experience in one or more of the following Power Sector topics:

  1. Software and methodologies to integrate and optimize renewable energy for electric grids
  2. Experience with installing, deploying, and managing new renewable energy and storage technologies
  3. Experience with grid optimization technologies, transitions to digitized and connected systems within a utility, IoT devices
  4. Experience with generation, transmission, and distribution planning and associated methodologies
  5. Experience in low emissions transport, electric vehicles, and electric vehicle charging infrastructure, particularly related to financing and tariffs methodologies, fleet management and maintenance
  6. Experience utilizing advanced energy modeling software and electric power sector industry models to produce analyses
  7. Knowledge of market operation, pricing, and regulatory policies in North American RTOs/ISOs a plus
