Project X is a new agency offering from Deloitte Digital and Doblin. Still in stealth mode, Project X is looking for ambitious, purpose-driven leaders to form the core team of an exciting new venture that promises to disrupt both the advertising and consulting industries through innovative new approaches and big, bold, creative swings.

Doblin, a Deloitte business, is seeking equity innovation leaders to join our New York and Chicago studios. We are looking for exceptional individuals who can confidently shape the future of equity-centered innovation, both as a discipline and as programs delivered with clients across industries to drive the growth of our business. The Innovation and Impact department at Project X is unique, comprised of distinct disciplines of design. The Director of Inclusive Innovation will act as the core driver to leading empathetic and authentic discovery work into communities and people. As a Strategic Design Senior Consultant, you will be integral to out multidisciplinary teams.

Our Strategic Designers are masterful at responding to human needs and business priorities to shape desirable, feasible, and viable solutions. We look to our senior designers to take teams and clients on a journey from inspiration to fully-rounded solution in ways that drive outsize impact. In this role, you will lead a small department of designers and researchers on purpose lead innovation and transformation projects. The ideal candidate will have a keen understanding of equity and inclusive design methodologies as well as an understanding of far reaching impact and can employ their design expertise to guide conception, prototyping, and launch of solutions to the world’s most complex challenges

Project X is headquartered out of Chicago and New York. Travel is required for 30-50% of the time (While up to 50% of travel is a requirement of the role, due to COVID-19, non-essential travel has been suspended until further notice).


Work You’ll Do

  • Lead the synthesis of complex and varied information from numerous inputs into cohesive, compelling stories that are told through presentations, posters, videos, websites and more.
  • Partner and galvanize a community of passionate Inclusive Design experts and leaders across Deloitte. Define and drive the future of inclusive design at Deloitte. You will possess a clear vision of the future of inclusive design and have the courage to purpose forward thinking product development practices that support business goals.
  • Define and develop concepts and prototypes of equitable products, services and experiences at varying levels of fidelity - often by guiding a small team that may include designers with varying kinds of expertise.
  • Use interdisciplinary thinking and existing literature on diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) to ground all ideas in research insight, business needs, and design constraints and stretch the ambition of our teams and our clients.
  • Design and co-facilitate engaging workshops with internal teams, clients, and community stakeholders.
  • Bring an inclusive lens to all aspects of the design process, including field research, business model design, and launching and scaling solutions in-market.
  • Work with a diverse team of experts, including from Deloitte's global network of industry and domain experts, to amplify the impact of your work.
  • Apply your expertise across industries and at multiple levels of ambition, honing your craft and supporting the development new design methods.
  • Contribute significantly to the development of client pitches and intellectual property, including new design methods and thought leadership.
  • Develop as a leader within a like-minded community of designers, local and global, with incredible opportunities for mentorship and career growth.

What You’ll Need

  • Someone who is insanely excited about their work and knows how to spread that enthusiasm.
  • Strong design instincts and readiness to promote deep understandings of human centered design, human ethnography, and innovation processes.
  • Leadership skills and can organize, motivate, and improve the innovation work of those around you
  • A keen ability to anticipate the needs, concerns and input from teammates across departments.
  • Confident with everything from team building, mentoring to guiding large amounts of creative talent, and growing the team.

Required:

  • 3+ years of progressive experience in equity, innovation, digital, or design roles
  • Master’s degree
  • Expert knowledge of equity design principles and methodologies
  • Experience collaborating deeply across disciplines - product management, technology, research, user experience
  • Proven track record of advocating for Human Centered Design or Social innovation work
  • Experience with senior clients. Someone who is an expert at handling themselves and our clients in every imaginable situation.
