We are seeking a passionate and experienced writer/editor to shape Deloitte’s government business storytelling. 

This position is responsible for crafting compelling stories and messages on a wide range of topics on Deloitte’s work for our clients, our strategic growth opportunities and more. The position will work on the GPS Public Relations team and work in coordination with Deloitte’s GPS practice, which serves federal, state and local government agencies, as well as higher education institutions. 

What You’ll Do 

As the GPS Chief Storyteller/Editor you will contribute to the growth and development of our organization in a variety of ways, including: 

  • Draft compelling messaging, media pitches, news releases, bylined articles, case studies and other communications on a broad range of topics and technologies, including cyber, cloud and AI. 
  • Ensure there is cohesive, consistent messaging and communications across content; ensure all impact stories adhere to brand standards, and are cutting edge, innovative and of the highest quality. 
  • Support the development and execution of integrated communications campaigns with a specific focus on thought leadership, media relations and client storytelling 
  • Help third-party advocates, partners and clients tell their own stories about the impact of Deloitte’s GPS work on the citizens they serve 
  • Build and execute storytelling campaigns to showcase Deloitte’s leadership in the GPS market and how we are helping our clients build resiliency and transform their businesses through technology. 
  • Serve as principal writer/editor for executive communications, including GPS leader and others. 
  • Distill and translate leadership insights and perspectives into content that is clearly understood and compelling. 

The team 

The GPS Storyteller/Editor serves on the GPS Public Relations teams and is a strategic advisor to key business leaders and stakeholders within the GPS practice. The role reports to the GPS Public Relations Leader. 

Qualifications 

  • Seasoned writer/editor with 10+ years of experience writing on complex business topics for a news or publishing organization, public relations or digital marketing agency 
  • Natural storyteller with ability to find or create news/communication opportunities Impeccable ability to write narrative stories that are engaging and human-centric 
  • Capable of working independently and write for C-suite executives 
  • Experience with a wide range of content, including talking points, thought leadership papers, press releases, blogs, custom bylines, social media posts, speeches and other content 
  • Ability to distill technical or complex content and make it relatable to specific audiences Ability to offer and defend ideas based on experience and best practices 
  • Ability to see the bigger picture and articulate customer benefit and value 
  • High level of comfort with ambiguity and fluid priorities; ability to manage multiple and complex priorities efficiently and effectively 
  • A commitment to excellence, professionalism and timely communication 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications or English 
  • This position may require approximately 10% travel (while 10% travel may be a requirement of this role, due to COVID-19, non-essential travel has been suspended until further notice) 
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future
